Huntsville New developments at 97.3 W247AT

97.3 W247AT Huntsville (translator for 1390 WWTM) filed to return to Silent STA (which is still pending) according to records on Sep 22nd, however I noticed a several days ago that the translator is not only on the air, but also seemingly transmitting from its CP on Monte Sano Mountain at 250 watts, now covering the city of Huntsville. I've checked every day since and it is still on the air from the CP. The station is still broadcasting Christian preaching for now. It's strange to file for Silent STA and not only remain on the air, but also upgrade to a new CP. I'll continue to keep an eye on this one. I'm curious to see what format this station eventually lands on, as I'm sure the current one is just a placeholder while moves and upgrades are being completed.

Sounds interesting, like something I'd want to tune into. Looked for it online, but couldn't find any current website, etc. Reckon I'm used to almost everybody and their brother having some kind of online presence, but here's one of the exceptions. For that matter, it took me a minute to plow through the history, including wiki, which I don't personally consider reliable. Monte Sano? I'll have to look that one up. I know of a church here (at least I think it's still here) in KY with somewhat of a similar name (Sano Cornerstone), so it kinda caught my attention as well. Kinda like Monte Vista in NC, my old home state.

I don't believe there is any online presence at all for this one. They seem to only be airing the same man just reading scripture from the bible 24/7. That's why I think it is ultimately just a placeholder for now.

HMM, interesting indeed. I am told, that when WFLI was switching from Rock to Southern Gospel, they played the King James Bible from Genesis through Revelation, I assume read by Alexander Scourby, before they started their programming in earnest. Is he the one reading the Bible on this station? He has a definite British accent, no matter where you hear him LOL. I remember the first time I heard him on a movie clip, I just couldn't believe it, since I had only heard him reading the Bible. He recorded other so called Bibles, a couple I believe (I don't call them versions, I call them perversions), but I digress. When you said Christian preaching, I once again assumed you meant just that, Christian preaching, as in preacher's broadcasts, something else of which I am very interested. Sad to say, most AM stations, however good their formats may be, are just excuses and place holders for FM translators.

Romans 11:33-36 KJB: 33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
34 For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
35 Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
36 For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

I thought it was Christian preaching when I first turned it on. I have since realized it is really just one guy reading the Bible. No, he doesn't have a British accent, so I don't think it's the sme guy you heard on WFLI. I'll keep checking in on it periodically and if anything changes I'll update on here again.

Still same guy preaching.
I ran by the new 1390 site yesterday and got pictures of their short antenna. It's an interesting mix of a folded unipole with what looks like a capacity hat. Weak signal in Madison now on 1390.

One last one.

the pictures posted are not the current WWTM site. my huntsville ham
friend has no idea what that was ..WWTM is a 350 watt daytimer on 1390 and the licensed site has a taller tower, with an STL dish and fm antenna on it …but it’s not the Wwtm Translator because that’s north/east of Huntsville

Correct. The picture I posted is the AM site, 1390 not the translator.
The translator is on the Channel 31 tower up on Monte Sano just northeast of downtown.
I'm about two and a half miles from the new 1390 site I posted the picture from. It's gone up recently.
