Forever sells another Pittsburgh market frequency

How long until Forever is out of the market and then completely out of the game?

How long until Forever is out of the market and then completely out of the game?

I don't know in either case. However, I think it would take Forever Communications a little longer to get out of radio broadcasting altogether--it still has its western Tennessee and western Kentucky clusters and I haven't heard (yet) that those are on the selling block.

And yet commercial broadcasters, especially large commercial broadcasters, prefer to sell to religious outfits. Why? It's a short term thing--they know their audience is (mostly) not going to tune in to their religious competitors.
Actually, it is less about audience and more about revenue. A station that goes religious or non commercial does not compete for ad dollars, so fewer stations split the same market revenue. So it is, indeed, a log term based decision.

The problem with these markets going all religious or non comm. Or say, over 50 percent is this: Regular mainstream listeners that relied on a medium are just turning off am/fm in general. We are already sharing the audience with numerous other sources. By converting the traditional bands to religion and other formats that really serve only a fraction of the audience we are killing radio and turning away an already decreasing audience. There are areas now when traveling in between DC and Ohio where it's nothing but religion or right wing talk. Give it a few more years and I'm sorry to say the AM/FM dial will look more like shortwave.

I would think 99.3 stays with the Pickle format until they sell that one too.

I'd like to see Cumberland go to 7 Mountains. The improvements they've made to other markets acquired from Forever (Meadville/Franklin, Altoona, Johnstown, etc) have breathed a whole new life to those stations.

Those are separate and not part of the Forever Pittsburgh group,,,that also owns stations in York PA, Cumberland MD, and in the Salisbury OC MD market

Let's clearup the negativity and lack of knowledge: brodcasters sell to those that buy and are willing to pay, somimes much more than a secular broadcaster.

Some people just complain. So do.

Solution: line up some investors and buy station(s). You money is just as good as a ministry's money.

Don’t know him personally, but the owner of WIXZ in Steubenville should have looked into buying 92.1 to get his oldies format into the Pittsburgh area. Lots of people in Pittsburgh still talk about the original WIXZ to this day and I’m sure would love the 60’s/70’s mix and original jingles on that station.
