So I have wondered for some time about the Boone & Lenoir legs of Curtis Media. Does anyone think that at some point either one or both of these will be put up for sale? I know profit hasn't really happened in a while around the locations. I cant help but feel as if both would greatly benefit from a local ownership model on a hyper local format. Both clusters currently have local DJs to an extent but its not much. Lenoir has an awesome local sports presence with their "Scoreboard Radio" Crew. But I just feel its very little that gets put into these locations from the top. Any Thoughts?

I don't know their finances but I would bet a cup of cheap coffee they are paid for. Why sell if they are generating positive cash.
Another angle is taxes. Free legal advice. Never sell anything till you find out how much you had to give the Government.
Also who would buy? I seriously doubt they are getting unsolicited offers to buy their stations.

What radio signals are in this area of reference? Boone and Lenoir are considered the Charlotte TV market, but not sure if this applies to radio. I wonder why Boone isn't in the Tricities market? WQUT has a 60 db signal according to FCCdata. I believe there use to be a TV station on that tower too that should come in Boone too.
WQUT has a translator on 104.9 in Boone. The mountain range along the state line blocks TN signals from reaching Boone, to the point that in certain places you can hear WRAL-FM on 101.5.I wonder why Boone isn't in the Tricities market? Charlotte and Triad signals hit Boone fairly well. WFDD also has a translator in Boone to fill in 88.5 gaps.

A projected 60db doesn’t take terrain into account that accurately. Just average. There are places in Watauga County where you can hear WQUT, and places where you can’t. How the Boone translator has survived this long in the modern business landscape of radio I have no idea.

As much as I loved the Boone translator, I agree with you on its continued existence. It even interferes with its own sister station WKOS around the TN-NC line.
