The program "Nightsounds"

In the late 1970s, I ran across a show on Christian radio called "Nightsounds." The 30 minute program was hosted by Bill Pearce, and aired in the late evening and overnight hours. Pearce had a soothing voice, which was perfect for this kind of show. Each night or week, there would be a topic Pearce would discuss, along with old-style Christian music.

Bill Pearce died in 2010, though his show still airs on some Christian radio stations: KICY Nome, AK still airs it. There is also an app available, where programs can be listened to on-demand.

Years ago, I rolled tape on this show, and have digitized some cassettes of "Nightsounds." They can be found here: Nightsounds (Bill Pearce) : spiritof67 : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive

Thank you for posting these. Truly a very distinctive radio program. Religious radio was/is a lot more diverse than given credit for. I remember hearing it late at night and thinking that it's great listening at home in your bedroom but probably hazardous to listen from the drivers seat of a car!

I vaguely remember the show. I believe the last place I heard it, was maybe an LPFM station in OH, while visiting OH for a funeral of one of my wife's family, but I digress. Wasn't there a Bob (I believe that was his first name) Kellog involved with the show, maybe a Producer. I believe the broadcast was/is a Moody Production. I've heard Bill Pearce on a Ranger Bill show, maybe more than one LOL. I've also found some of his Christmas music albums for download over the past few years. Well, I say that and now, I can only find this comp containing two songs from him and one complete album, so here they be.

I have two other cassettes to upload today, so you may want to keep checking.

Pearce was years before Bob Ross and the concept of ASMR.

Thanks for all your work on these files. Please pardon my ignorance, but, would said new uploads be in the link you provided or a new ZIP folder at a new link?

"Nightsounds" only appeared on Christian formats overnights, "Powerline" was broadcast on secular top 40 stations well past the 70s, often as a bridge between Sunday morning religious and public affairs programming and American Top 40

I remember Powerline and Country Crossroads being played from vinyl transcriptions (to use an older term), back in the '80s, usually really early on Sunday mornings, like around 6. I also remember a show with the word Connection in the title around that same time, etc, can't remember the rest of the title, though. All of these were on secular stations, in place of church services and public affairs programming, IMHO. Somewhat related, I do remember an Easy Listening station in our region (the old WPVR, Roinoke, VA), playing The Baptist Bible Hour from Cinci Primitive Baptist Church (a nationally-syndicated program) at 8 and I don't remember any other religious programs being on that station, but I'm rambling now LOL.

Powerline was aired well into the 2010s, as it was on the late Tom Kent's 24/7 Fun network. Aired on KARY (100.9 Cherry FM) I believe 6-9AM Sunday morning.
I notice some of the music on Nightsounds was of the instrumental variety. In Seattle, KCIS-630 has aired "Quiet Time" late at night for many years...probably decades. All instrumental religious music.

The Southern Baptist Convention syndicated Powerline, Country Crossroads, Master Control (for full service AC) and an R&B show during that timeline.

I remember Master Control on those same transcriptions, etc, as well.

In doing some quickie research, "Powerline" with Brother Jon Rivers ran until 2007 when the Southern Baptist Radio & TV commission disbanded. The show, and Rivers, returned to the air in 2013 as part of the Tom Kent network in a different format (only heard once by me on the way back from Texas). That continued until TK disbanded after Kent's death. Reruns of that show, last I knew, were streaming on the iHeart app

Didn't John Rivers also DJ (that CCM show, what was it called) Twenty, The Countdown Magazine?
