NBC could lose Sunday Night Football

Here's an article about the ratings:

This article from Nielsen puts the ratings in context:

Peacock exhibited a 64% monthly uptick in viewing in February and recorded its highest share of television to date in The Gauge, achieving a 3.0% share of TV viewing.

The reality is that sports is the big attraction for TV. NBCUniversal is part of Comcast/xfinity, and so they're looking at a bigger picture than network ratings or even how this impacts their O&O stations. It obviously helped Peacock, and streaming TV is the future for this company.

NBC/Universal no doubt will have their best Olympic games in LA. Mainly the bulk of the major games will be aired LIVE, while the overnight coverage will be tape-delayed games of lesser interest.

And don't forget the 2034 Winter Games in Salt Lake City, though I don't know if NBC has secured those rights that far out yet.

Women's sports, as ESPN has just done after losing Sunday Night Baseball to NBC/Peacock? The ratings won't be close, but there are apparently enough advertisers wanting to sell to women who watch sports to make the programming attractive to Disney.
After Sunday Night Baseball is done, NBC can switch easily to Sunday Night NBA Basketball the next few weeks after baseball season. They (NBC) could go and try to grab some of the MLB World Series inventory when the media rights is up too...

2036 is their last games currently.

I heard about it too. This story is mostly what-if scenarios. Can it happen? Yes. But I would see a scenario where a swap could happen between NBC and Amazon over Thursday Night and Sunday Night Football broadcasts if that comes down to it. Also, if that happens, I could see NBC moving its NBA and MLB properties to Thursdays if that scenario could happen. But I wouldn't be surprised if Comcast had a war chest saved specifically for this scenario to try to keep Sunday Night Football.

Sunday night is the marquee event for MLB. No way they move it to Thursday.
