The worst commercials in TV history..

The kids associated with the K4K songs don't need the money for camp anymore -- they need the money to buy their own (luxury) cars now!
I don't think many of the kids K4K helps really need money for traditional summer camp. Many are from suburban families. The summer camps K4K supports are for Jewish kids looking for a particular form of religious-oriented experience, which is why they might need the extra money that allows them to do so.
 
Here's another one of those Anacin ads, this time from 1965, with a angry father relieved after taking Anacin. The ad instantly reminded me of the character of Jack Arnold (played by Dan Lauria) on Wonder Years--the time period of this ad (3 years before "Wonder Years" began in "reel time") and the image of the father just instantly gave me a flashback to one of the greatest shows on television.

The kitchen even looks like the one on TWY. I can see that.
 
Bar none, Liberty Mutual has the worst ad campaigns in television history. It is beyond absurd how LM wastes so much money on that emu, Doug, Bibberity, and more.
No insurance company, even GEICO, and no advertiser on TV gets me more irritated than Liberty Mutual. Their insurance is sub-par anyway. Claim after claim is being denied, from what I hear. I can see why their claims are being denied. Partly because of their giant advertising budget that they run through like candy.

You can't escape LM anywhere. Regular TV, they show up. Watch a game on ESPN, and there they are. Stream something on Netflix...there's that FRICKIN Liberty Mutual garbage again. YouTube, the radio, you name it. If they had their way, a Liberty Mutual ad would show up in the trailers on a DVD. (Of course, that's nearly 'old-school' now)...

Doug is NOWHERE near funny, the emu makes no sense, and that Bibberity garbage? I haven't heard anybody who LIKES that ad!

Shall we talk about the current Iams dog food ad with the dogs in "pooping pose"? And do we need any discussion of "poop" in any TV ads? TV is sh!tty enough with out mentioning it in the ads.

Those triple AAA commercials with the rinky-dink Peter Pan wanna be. And whaddya know?! When I got on there he popped up on an ad on here!


Also, political ads that cake our screens with mud.

It seemed like at one point Progressive Insurance was everywhere. My Pillow seemed to buy all the remnant time available but that obviously, stopped

I think Progrssive is more annoying on the radio with their Office Worker Surprise Party ads where there's 5-10 people saying "Surprise!!! You're quarantined with the rest of us all weekend in the office because one person contracted E-Coli, Covid and food-poisoning in the break room all within their 30-minute lunch break this morning!!!"

Apparently, most, if not all of the money goes for programs for young adults -- NOT Kids.

I don't consider High Schoolers as "kids", and obviously the kids in the commercials allegedly have to wait about a decade or so before they reap any benefits from the K4K program.
 
The Verified by Visa commercial with Emmitt Smith. Showing his name and Password they actually showed his password as Catch-22. He typed it before it changed to stars. Someone could have easily used it if it was actually his password.
 
We're going about this in exactly the wrong way. We should be talking about the BEST commercials and not the worst.

You may remember the worst commercials but they won't endear you to their product.
 
If Liberty or Progressive were losing customers to policy cancellation because of their commercials, wouldn't you think they'd have changed ad agencies and campaign concepts by now? Either there's a huge "silent majority" out there that loves Doug and Flo, or the people complaining about the ads don't consider them when choosing an insurer. I go with the latter. I hold policies from Geico and State Farm, even though I'm sick of the gecko and consider Jake an insult to my intelligence. If Liberty or Progressive offered cheaper alternatives, I'd gladly switch.

I doubt many people consider poor commercials a valid reason to switch products. Most products (with a significant lifeline) are there because the customer likes it for one reason or another. For instance, I loved the Budweiser frog commercials but won't go near their terrible tasting beer. I find Progressive insurance commercials a bit annoying but their rates are the lowest I can find for my specific needs.

I've found, over the years, that advertisers who blanket the airwaves are trying to make up for "churn" - the constant turnover of customers. Either that or they are in considerable competition in their respective field (see TV advertising for law firms in Phoenix for example). I suspect companies like Liberty Insurance find it cheaper to advertise for new customers than invest in retaining existing customers.

I pay no attention to electronic advertising and eliminate it from all other sources when that is possible. For instance, I see no advertising online unless it is buried inside the product and even then it is usually possible to bypass it. When It came time to buy my wife a new car I went to the publications, including opinion, that review different brands. The consensus wins. The car we eventually bought has never, to my knowledge, appeared in any electronic advertising. Packard used to say "Ask the man who owns one." Good advice!

To me advertising is just half-truths and outright lies and I treat it accordingly. As the years go by I find myself accessing services that have minimal or no embedded advertising. For instance, if I watch any of the nightly news programs it is through YouTube which strips out the commercials. Life is too short to waste it watching/listening to commercials.
 
I am certain I have never set foot in a Burger King ever since the infamous "Whopperettes" commercial of Super Bowl XXXIX (Feb. 5, 2006). And the dancing burgers, vegetables, etc. Repulsive. I think it only aired once:
