Podcast and video editor

Davinci Resolve...

Okay, how about Shotcut?

No? Is this a Windows machine or a iOS box? 'Puter, or phone?

Context...need some.

We need to know:

1. Video source: Smartphone? DSLR? Camcorder?
2. Intended social media platform(s) and aspect ratio: TikTok / YouTube Shorts (vertical video)? Or longer-form videos (16:9 widescreen)?
3. Hardware and OS to be used for editing?

The source will likely be an old Moto Phone or possibly a GoPro, the editing will be done on a PC using a Microsoft operating system, and they will be posted most likely Instagram Facebook and YouTube.

Try the Clipchamp video editor that comes free with Windows 10/11 to see if it's good enough to get you started. (FYI, it's really just a front end for their cloud-based service; it uploads everything you put into it, and won't work offline.)

Windows Movie Maker was better, and still works in Windows 10 (not sure about 11), although Microsoft discontinued it in 2017.

I put it on a W11 machine three years ago; which is why I switched immediately to Shotcut.

Freeware - and actively supported.

Note that a reasonably equipped machine (laptop/desktop) with a GPU is really needed to use programs like these. Even for doing simple-ish edits, some graphical horesepower is quite helpful.
