Washington DC WTOP Now Using ABC News

Just saw that one and yes it was expected that ABC Audio will get some of the former CBS Radio affiliates. In this case they got Hubbard owned WTOP to get their affiliation.

Now that you mention it, I believe that's right. I wonder what TOP did during that time?
The answer is... it kept CBS News on the hour. The competing news station owned by CBS, 99.1 WNEW-FM, didn't use CBS News. Like WINS in New York, it didn't carry any network newscasts. At the beginning of every hour, the local anchor began with the top stories, local and national, just like the bottom of the hour.

But actually there were a few years in the early 2000s when WTOP was airing ABC News on the hour. It was upset that CBS was asking for too much compensation so it switched to ABC for a time. How did CBS News Radio win WTOP back? I'm not sure.
