Governor Vetoes OETA Funding

The Governor of Oklahoma has vetoed a bill to fund Oklahoma Public Broadcasting authority.

The state should sell the stations to the member-run foundation. The state shouldn't own something it won't support.

Both Governor Stiht's actions in Oklahoma and President Trump's actions in Washington D.C. continue to show how far away the GOP has moved from supporting public TV and radio at both the Federal and state levels. There was atime when Republicans, such as the former member of the House of Representatives from Oklahoma, Mickey Edwards, not only supported public radio but taped commentaries on current political issues that were aired on NPR's news programs. I'm afraid those days are gone now as we have become much more polarized since then.
