Sling Streaming Sucks!

Tried watching two NHL playoff games tonight via Sling. Constant screen lockups and/or reversals to the beginning of the stream. Continued every few minutes through both games. Sometimes resetting the stream worked and other times it didn't.

Something else; I was watching through my computer. They apparently require you to use a unique URL to gain the guide BUT THEY DON'T BOTHER TELLING YOU WHAT THE URL ACTUALLY IS. Inexcusable!

This will be my very last Sling experience!

UPDATE

Sometime after the game went into OT the stream cut off altogether. When I tried to reestablish it ESPN was already into Sportscenter and the game was not available.

This was absolutely the WORST streaming experience I've ever had and it will not be repeated!

Sounds frustrating, but I follow various TV and streaming groups and haven't seen similar complaints about Sling. It sounds like it could be a networking issue, possibly Wi-Fi congestion, a mesh issue, or something like a QoS setting in your router. Try posting in a FB or Reddit Sling community for help, or even contact Sling directly for support.

Tried Sling support. That's a laugh. The best they could do is suggest things I might try but I wasn't using any of these at the time (VPN, multiple devices etc.). As far as I can tell they have no technical support; just some AI quackbox. I had only one PC online at the time and was having no network issues. The stream never buffered. It just reset continually.

I'm not a novice streamer and I've never seen anything like this before; where the stream just resets itself frequently. At one point it was happening about every 2-3 minutes. I did stay online after the last game ended and the problem did not reappear so I'm guessing the issue was with ESPN and/or Sling.

Forget Sling, or anything else related to Dish Network. I never subscribed to anything from them, but I had to deal with them on a professional basis back in 1996 when they were first gearing up and still owned by EchoStar. They were so completely impossible to deal with I and my coworkers decided to boycott them right then and there. Sounds like nothing has changed in 30 years.

Try DirecTV Stream or YouTube TV. I have the latter and am very happy with them other than their refusal to include any local channel that airs sports other than on a network (read: No KTVK, KPHE, or KASW). I have to do the best I can via an antenna or pay for MLB.TV, the Disney Bundle, etc. for local sports, but otherwise their quality is quite good.

Back in the old days I did a term with DirecTV when they had their pizza pans and was satisfied with that service. Over time though no one else in my household was watching so I dropped the sub. The PQ with Sling was fine. The only problem was the constant resetting of the stream. Never seen that before. It happened both randomly and at every commercial break, then, when in OT the screen just went black about one minute in and when I tried reconnecting to the stream the guide did not show the game so there was no way to reconnect. When it did eventually reconnect Sportscenter was on and the game was history. Managed to see the OT conclusion on YouTube highlights.

Their app needs real work.

I contacted their chat and they agreed to refund my 7 day pass so I will take your advice and perhaps give YouTube a try for the next set of NHL games.
