I know some of you have see my videos and give seen various videos over the years of a phone held up to a radio speaker. I thought I’d share how I do my videos with audio fed directly into the camera/video.
When I record a DX video with audio fed directly into the camera video instead of holding it up near the speaker, this is how I do it.
I use a UHF wireless mic receiver and transmitter. I’ve attached a picture.
I unplug the lavaliere/lapel mic from the transmitter and plug in a 20 ft audio cable with 3.5mm male plugs on each end.
One end goes to the transmitter, one goes to the digital audio record which passes live audio.
Then I use an adapter or two and a long cable to plug the receiver into my phone on one end and into the headphone output of the digital recorder.
I set volume levels and away I go.
You can find some no name chinese brands for this stuff on ebay and amazon that’ll run you anywhere from $20 to $35 or so.
You can spend a little more, like I did .. and get something a bit better
For someone who doesn’t use it as much, those Chinese brands for $20-$30 will be just fine. The quality of what they do and the audio is fine.. they’re just built a little cheaper and have a few weak points.
The slightly more expensive ones like I bought, about $45 for the Pyle has a bit better build quality and better antennas.
The one I’d been using prior, HOTEC brand, was only rechargeable and the battery didn’t last long.
The Pyle uses an 18650 battery for the receiver and 2 AA batteries for the transmitter
