WNCT-AM

Slightly off-topic, I remember when their FM station used to be Easy 108, used to listen to them at GMS back in the early '80s.

I’ve noticed that 1070 WNCT has been off the air for a few days. I wonder if it’s being taken silent?

The fccdata.org site doesn't show an STA being requested--though that could change tomorrow. Interestingly, the stream (it's one of the few Curtis Media Group music radio stations that does stream outside of its local market area) was still up when I checked it about 2 minutes ago. Of course, as has been pointed out elsewhere, the availability of the stream and the lack of an STA request at this time means absolutely nothing as far as the radio station's actual status.

The WNCT programming, Beach, Boogie and Blues, is carried by an FM and several translators.

And they were geo-locked for a few years, but recently returned to out-of-market streaming. Perhaps because the station had a widespread fanbase that left for other similar stations when they locked the stream

Hmmm, in'er'stin'. Didn't know they were a Curtis station. He's got 'em from the Mountains to the Coast.

and whats a few days? 2..3....4..?

If i recall correctly, notice isnt requried until 10 days, permission isnt needed till 30 days off.

And i also know listeners concept of time isnt always accurate. I had listeners in Alaska call up with complaints about one of our signals.. and i said "How longs it been going on?" Theyd say a week.. and through some very basic investigating, i was able to determine it was 3 or 4 days.
