Mobile Mobile set to Vibe?

Two points.

1) The link keeps going to "server not found." My Internet is working properly, the site I'm on is working properly, and Radio Insight's main sight is working properly so I wonder about the authenticity of the article.
2) If WDLT-FM were to get competition from a low power FM outlet, it *most certainly* would not be owned by IHeart. As a commercial broadcaster, IHeart could not legally own a licensed low power outlet.

Hey @ted chittenden - try this link

Thanks for the link. However, since I'm not a paid subscriber (I'm on a fixed income and just don't have the money for that), I'll have to settle for what actually happens. That said, if a legal LPFM outlet is being discussed, then point 2) in my first response *very much* stands.

Maybe WAVH? it's a C2.

Doesn’t iHeart’s 107.3 The Beat already compete with Cumulus’s WDLT?

I think 107.3 is more of a competitor to WBLX, urban contemporary versus adult R&B or whatever the official format names are nowadays.

Maybe WAVH? it's a C2.

I doubt the top-rated news talk station on FM would give up its perch for this, especially considering how it's basically the only live/local talk in the market.

Oh, this will be on the 99.5 translator?

Why bother? Does iHeart have a morning show that needs clearance in Mobile? Otherwise they’ll only be drawing a hundred listeners away from WDLT.

I could see iHeart doing something like this for a show clearance but like WAVH, giving up the only sports talk on FM would probably not be a smart move. (Edit: I forgot about WNSP.)

I'm not a subscriber to Radio Insight either but I'm wondering if it could be a format tweak to 92.5 "The Soul of Mobile" from the ZEW people. Although I'm not the target audience, I think it's a pretty good niche classic R&B format as-is, but it doesn't seem to have nearly the marketing or commercial load of 96.5 The Crab or ZEW itself.

The only way anyone could be real competition to WDLT would be to hijack one of the other full market signals and I just don't see iHeart doing that unless they're planning to give up on The Beat trying to make a dent in BLX's listenership.

Edit #2: I'm definitely leaning more towards the 99.5 translator being flipped.

The domain 995thevibemobile.com is not registered (at least according to whois.com) as of 2 pm today (6/10).
Actually, 995vibemobile.com was registered by iHeart so it appears Sports Talk 99.5 days are numbered. Format wise, a combination of R&B, Throwbacks and Southern Soul can pull listeners from Cumulus’104.1 WDLT but Steve Harvey will likely stay put on 104.1. Scheduling obviously will be 100% voice tracked without a morning show UNLESS they go with Rickey Smiley which is highly unlikely. Up the road in Birmingham, iHM runs the Urban AC translator B106.5 without a morning show and all day voicetracked.

I just checked and it's still showing available for me?

Yes. 995THEvibemobile.com is now registered; it was not as of 2 pm today. Whois.com is showing that 995vibemobile.com (without "the" in domain) is not registered and is available.

EDIT: 995vibemobile.com is now registered. I took a screenshot at 9:48 pm on whois.com and it showed the domain was still available at that time.

It's been taken now, but not by iHeart…
Both domains are mirror sites of one another. If it's not Iheart, then who registered them?

The correct domain is vibe995mobile.com, not 995vibemobile.com as previously stated. The vibe995mobile.com domain points to the Iheart Radio site.

unless they go with something like classic hip hop, why bother? Cumulus has owned the urban market here forever. Cumulus already has WABB and 94.1 flanking the sides of WDLT and WBLX and that doesn’t include WGOK’s urban gospel format.

How about we not take paywalled content from this site's owner and not give it away? You know the paywalled content that pays to keep both that and THIS site in operation?

The domain reports are for those in the industry to prepare for upcoming changes in a market. I can and should charge hundreds if not thousands of dollars to those that rely on them for that reason. I keep it a $5 per month to allow others to view it and have not changed the price once in well over a decade.

If you've found the domain on your own fine, but it is still hijacking said content for what purpose?
