Gene Shalit, 100, former NBC/Today Show movie critic

There was a time when the movie critic was a celebrity, even had their own show...Siskel and Ebert, Rex Reed, Gene Shalit. Leonard Maltin is still around but retired. Nowadays I can't name even one well known, household name movie critic.

I think the closest 'household name' critic we have is Richard Roeper (the one half of Ebert & Roeper), he's still doing movie reviews.
Well done, Gene...a full century of life, and now you get to go up to the skies with an incredible A-list of movie stars waiting for you...plus Siskel & Ebert.
RIP and condolences to his family and friends.
