Ronnie Schell, Slater on 'Gomer Pyle USMC', 94

He was also the voice of Jason on Battle of the Planets.

He also starred in a mid-60s sitcom (Good Morning, World) about a pair of LA morning drive-time DJs. His girl friend was played by Goldie Hawn, his boss was the talented Billy De Wolfe. The man played the part of a fastidious pr!@k with gusto. Didn't last a full season.

Ronnie left Gomer Pyle to to be the star of his own show -- a radio-themed show -- which tanked in the ratings...

A decade later, McLean Stevenson left M*A*S*H to be the star of his own show -- a radio-themed show -- which tanked in the ratings...

I remember him appearing on Jim's variety show where he fell down the stairs a lot.

He came back to Gomer's show as a corporal and then he got in over his head when he was put in charge.

An accomplished stand-up comedian who also was the voice of Peter Puck in the segments produced by Hanna-Barbera which aired during NBC's NHL hockey coverage in the 70's. I think he may have been the last surviving Gomer Pyle cast member? RIP.

Certainly of the regular cast, until I just looked it up I didn't realize Elizabeth MacRae (Gomer's girlfriend) had died. Not a regular, but Carol Burnett, who appeared 2-3 times as a USMC corporal who had the hots for Gomer, is still with us.
