Most likely a move to keep the license alive.

And I thought that WLAM's owner had turned in the station's license. Silly me!
No, all of Bob Bittner's stations still exist, at least on paper.
Filed with the FCC today:
"WLAM has resumed operation as of June 10, 2026. The facility is periodically being operated at reduced power of 0.5 kW or less due to the need for maintenance to the cooling system in the transmitter building, and in order to avoid overheating and component stress so as to maintain reliable operation in hot weather.
Should it become necessary, or should the applicant anticipate the need, to operate at reduced power for a period of time that would exceed the limitations specified in 73.1560(d), then a request will be submitted via the LMS for Special Temporary Authority for such operation."
