The Daly Migs Show

Are they featuring fake calls? I don’t listen to the entire show and I don’t listen ‘Daly.’ But I have definitely heard what seem like shamelessly false premise calls. Is that really happening? Has the show/station/COMPANY really stooped to that level? KISW is probably the last station in the market that seems to give a shit. Please tell me they’re not wasting airtime on that kind of garbage.

I was under the impression that fake phone calls were a commonplace among many morning shows, for better or for worse. With that being said, I haven’t listened to the KISW morning show as much recently. But I always appreciated that the morning show seemed to be a bit of an open platform for listeners. I (much like you) find that approach extremely entertaining.

I'm curious how the fake call packages work. initially I thought it was a tight script, but sometimes it sounds like the "caller" is interacting with an ad-lib from the talent. Sign me "Inquiring Mind...."

I find this a bit amusing on some of the bigger CHR shows where they do regular segments with callers. The scenarios that come up can be entertaining, but it’s obviously not something that happened in real life. It’s funny a few times, but I like the KISW approach where the callers you hear sound like real people (for better or for worse lol).

Welcome to the board, TheEZ. Hope we hear from you plenty in years to come. Sometimes we get one-hit wonders who come in with an ax to grind about a particular talent or station, and then we never hear from them again.

That being said, this is an entertainment medium. Maybe I am old and jaded, but whether a bit is highly staged or just kind of staged, they are ALL staged to engage the listener. Not too worried as to which degree they are scripted out. Listeners are the product, and access to those listeners is sold for (hopefully) profit. The job of the talent is to keep as many of those listeners engaged as long as possible, right through the stop sets that they want the listener to engage with. Listeners don't know or care how the program is created, or how the music is created, or even where exactly the show is physically taking place. It's all theater of the mind.

As far as KISW being the only station left in the market that cares, that would come as huge news for the guys and gals getting up at 2 in the morning to go to work all over town, like at 97.3, 1000, 93.3, 710, 95.7, 94.9, 88.5, 1380, 1520, 90.3, 105.3, 92.5, 98.1, 98.9 and probably a bunch I am missing.

Gee. I can’t imagine why anyone might only post here once.
