Northwest Jersey iHeart Layoffs - Local Sussex County On-Air Hosts Gone

As part of their current nationwide purge of talent, iHeart has fired all of the local hosts for its Sussex County stations, WSUS, WNNJ, and WHCY, including Steve Andrews who had been with WSUS for more than 4 decades and the morning man since the early 90's. Steve shared the news of his termination on his Facebook page: Steve Andrews

WSUS 102.3 was the second stop of my radio career beginning in 1989 when it was locally owned, heavily involved in the community, and extremely profitable. I left in 1998 not long after it was sold to Nassau Broadcasting. Obviously, the radio industry has changed significantly since then. But it's sad to see what these stations have become under iHeart's ownership.

Is there anyone left? They should make 106.3 CHR again.

As far as I can tell, there's no local talent or programmers left in the Sussex office.

And if iHeart wanted to flip 106.3 back to CHR, it'd be pretty easy now. Just install the national CHR log instead of the National County log. (OK, it's a LITTLE more complex than that. But still)
