Final Bob Stroud Rock N Roll Roots

The last Rock N Roll Roots with Bob Stroud will air on Sunday June 28th on WDRV HD2 9 AM & 9 PM. Show was demoted to HD2 I believe in November 2025 in favor of the syndicated Professor of Rock.

Hubbard killed the HD2 stream like 5 years ago so only way to listen to 97.1 HD2 is over the air maybe in your car or if you have a HD portable.

Since I heard of this, I've been wondering if he'll continue with the 10 @10, or if he might possibly be fed up with Hubbard and is ready to leave for good. I missed his guest appearance on Dave Pliers' show on WGN 720. This news, paired with all the current iHeart gloom, really hurts the radio nerd in me. Bob is one of the best! He was a very large part of driving my interest in not only radio, but music as well. I need to either CD-R or tape the 9pm replay, I'll be stuck at work during the daytime airing.

Bob Stroud mentioned during a Sherman & Tingle show that Tuesday, June 30th will be his last 10 @ 10, as he is retiring. Janda Lane will continue with the 10 @ 10 feature. Happy retirement Bob! Chicago radio will not be the same without you.

As I recall, he retired in 2023 but intended to keep on doing Rock N Roll Roots as of that time. Then seems that doing the 10 @ 10 was added to his retirement duties. I was surprised to see that Rock N Roll Roots was banished to HD2 with very few HD radios in most peoples possession. Maybe he just wants to retire for good and he has no ill will towards Hubbard, but making the effort to record the show every week to a medium that has next to no listeners is pretty much a waste of his time.

Adam Reader is not a bad guy who is doing the syndicated show that took Rock N Roll Roots place. He has the Professor of Rock YouTube channel which he is in constant battle with record labels over fair use of 5 second sound of video clips of songs. He claims he cutting back posting on YouTube due to health concerns and his ongoing battle with Universal Music Group.

I say this with no disrespect, but was it ever worth the work of producing new episodes of Rock and Roll Roots just to be aired on an HD2 without a stream?

I'm so glad he has had such a great run, but sad they didn't even air the last show on the main channel.
