I thought I read somewhere that it would show ratings for LPs and translators too??Wonder how much impact this will have on the market but having options I think is great .
There are some differences in the numbers and rankings between Nielsen and Eastlan. KODA is #1 in both, but the two show a 1.5 share difference. I wonder which one is the more accurate? Eastlan is 12+, instead of 6+, if that makes a difference.![]()
Looks like the first book of Eastlan ratings is out!

Are these numbers from diary entries? And are all the stations listed paying for these? The list includes KFNC which dumped Nielsen in early 2024. Also no KRBE.Looks like the first book of Eastlan ratings is out!
KOYM-LP has been off the air for over two years. I last heard it around March 2024. Bogus number. And are that many people really listening to KOYM-LP?
I thought it was off the air but I swear when I was nearby months ago I heard it on but very weakKOYM-LP has been off the air for over two years. I last heard it around March 2024. Bogus number.
Cumulus is the subscriber to Eastlan and KRBE sure is listed.. It's fourth overall. Eastlan lists all statons. Are these numbers from diary entries? And are all the stations listed paying for these? The list includes KFNC which dumped Nielsen in early 2024. Also no KRBE.
Without knowing for sure, it is quite possible the diary entry was for "99.7" and could've been one of the translators with no legal parent so Eastlan assumed it was KOYM-LP. But the station also has no silent STA. One person not hearing it does not a station being off the air make.KOYM-LP has been off the air for over two years. I last heard it around March 2024. When on the air KOYM was audible along a good section of 290 between Beltway 8 and Loop 610, with peak signal around the Bingle intersection. Also had reception along I-10 in the Memorial City Mall area, as well as parts of Beltway 8 north of I-10. No sign of it the past two years in those areas, just a weak KVST. The KOYM signal only got out about two miles in the past.I thought it was off the air but I swear when I was nearby months ago I heard it on but very weak
Eastlan does not use diaries. It uses the phone and "discovers" 24 hour listening in an interview. Here is the description of methodology. Are these numbers from diary entries? And are all the stations listed paying for these? The list includes KFNC which dumped Nielsen in early 2024. Also no KRBE.
Whoops, missed that while jumping around the posts and ratings links.Cumulus is the subscriber to Eastlan and KRBE sure is listed.. It's fourth overall.
David Eduardo let us know that Eastlan uses phone interviews, and I suspect the frequency got mangled somewhere along the way. Many people have no grasp of radio station frequencies and just make things up. It could possibly been 91.7 which is Vida Unida, another Spanish language religious broadcaster.Without knowing for sure, it is quite possible the diary entry was for "99.7"
No currently active Houston translators on 99.7. Any reception around Houston metro on that frequency is of KVST at varying levels depending on location. There is KLHG-LP in Galveston, but have not been down there recently to confirm if it is on the air.and could've been one of the translators with no legal parent so Eastlan assumed it was KOYM-LP.
You think LPFMs and other stations always file for silent STAs? KJOZ was off the air for 11 weeks. No Silent STA filing. In my part of NW Harris County K260DD has been off the air for over a year. No Silent STA filing. But the station also has no silent STA.
I am fully familiar with the (former) coverage area of KOYM, and being the radio geek that I am, will do a quick check for it when in those areas. Nothing heard in over two years. One person not hearing it does not a station being off the air make.
Read the description of methodology and you will see that vague responses are put through a series of questions, and it takes correct responses to several of them to register a "listening incident" that is not clearly identified.David Eduardo let us know that Eastlan uses phone interviews, and I suspect the frequency got mangled somewhere along the way.
