95.9 The River loses their tower

Crazy that this whole tower came down. I wonder if they will take the time to replace it or look for another tower to use. There is nothing really in that area that would work that I can think of. Could they do the following

1. Move the transmitter to Oak Brook with 93.5 and 94.3 with a directional signal to the west.
2. Move the Transmitter to Homer Glen with WSSR 96.7 with a directional signal nulling to the SE
3. Take the time and wait for the tower to be rebuilt.
4. Take the station Dark.
5. Something Else...
 
That would be a hard and expensive STA to get approved. They can file an STA for a relatively close tower or roof top that's a couple of hundred feet tall at a low power non directional with a simple one bay antenna and get back on the air faster.

Getting a directional antenna approved and then manufactured* would take time unless they get a "barrel" attached to the tower to create a null but then someone will have to figure the extra windload.
 
Depending who else was on the tower [governments, business', etc] VB might want to erect a new one post-haste instead of losing all that revenue. If it was just the station they may take their time or say "Find another tower, we ain't rebuilding."
 
WERV applied for STA with FCC to operate with effective radiated power of 0.37 KW from an antenna with a height above average terrain of 30 meters located at the station's studio while repairs are made to their main antenna:

Its a pop up/crank up, portable.. multiple engineers from multiple companies not related to WERV pitched in to help out and get WERV back on

That's something I have always admired about the engineering side of broadcasting, if a station in a market needs help getting back on the air, your "competitors" are always willing to help and usually with no charge to the station needing the help.
