True, and people who object to the message can always refuse to buy the product. That said, it is probably best to see the commercial as a joke, which is surely the way it was intended, but just speaking for myself, I would dislike a commercial that snickers at antisocial behavior, which failure to meet one's work obligations certainly is. During the Covid crisis, I did a slow burn at the various fast-food places and other businesses that had impaired service on account of people not showing up who weren't even sick. Back in my growing-up, you never heard of such a thing. You don't show up for work, and you have no legitimate excuse, you get fired. How times have changed.

I sure liked the old style Physicians Mutual ads from the 80s better. Why not bring those back and update them for 2026?

I agree with longtime commercial spokesman and game show host Dennis James. After he died in 1997 they decided to go a different direction with their advertising he would not have approved.

Keep in mind that they are selling one of the most generic products imaginable, insurance. They have to find some way to get the name of their company stuck in your head. Think of Flo from Progressive.
