Iowa KCJJ's 27th annual Radiothon going on - live and local

For everyone who complains about less live and local radio and stations not being involved in their communities, KCJJ in Iowa City is helping the community with their 27th Radiothon for the food donation service known as Table to Table. It started yesterday, went into the evening with live and local DJs on air until 11 PM, and goes on this weekend. Here is more info:

You can click on the speaker on that site to listen live to the ongoing interviews with volunteers, etc. I donated to it yesterday, it's a great cause. The station gets $0 of any money donated.

Steve's good people... im friends with him on Facebook .. he stands behind whatever he says.. and he is all about local and community. Even after losing his wife recently (which was public info).. he might've taken a few days off but has kept going.

If I remember correctly (and, of course, I'm open to correction), KCJJ was one of the first, if not the first, radio stations to come on the air in the expanded AM band between 1605 and 1710 kHz. I hope their radiothon goes well.

Everything they do goes well. They are to Iowa City what KLMI is to Laramie.. KCJJ has a bit more staff and the format is Hot AC vs our AC VAriety.. but theres alot of similarities between our stations
