FCC's Brendan Carr Goes After CNN, Wants 'Accountability' for Iran Coverage

Here is this one a new documentary by PBS frontline is out on the Trump Administration. It’s a case of let’s wait and see how the FCC chairman reacts to this one given his record on stuff like this.

Again how does Pete Hegseth or Chairman Carr what those leaks are? We run into the first amendment issue and the National security issue clashing with each other in issues like this. Also it’s about controlling the press pool and investigations at the pentagon get political interference when they are supposed to be separate from the Trump Administration.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced on July 13 that the Department of Defense and the Justice Department have created a joint task force to identify and prosecute individuals who share sensitive information with the media, saying unauthorized disclosures can put lives and national security at risk.

In a video posted to X, Hegseth said the new task force will help the Pentagon investigate leaks more quickly and thoroughly. He added that people who improperly share confidential or classified information "will be met with the full force of the law."

"Leaked information risks lives," Hegseth said. "These new tools and processes will greatly assist us in protecting our joint force."

The fact of the matter is the president himself is the biggest leaker. He tells the world what the military is doing every day. I doubt that he asks for clearance. He determines if it's classified. However, he doesn't use the independent media or even the government press office.. He uses his personally-owned social media site that he profits from. So he competes with the media that his government is seeking to shut down. He's using this "joint task force" to eliminate competition so he is the only source of information. This is not only unconstitutional, but it's a form of monopoly.

They make it up.
We run into the first amendment issue and the National security issue clashing with each other in issues like this.
The first amendment is enshrined in the constitution. They don’t care.
Also it’s about controlling the press pool and investigations at the pentagon get political interference when they are supposed to be separate from the Trump Administration.
The “independence” ship sailed. And sank.

True too! and demands for propaganda are at play here. We need to wait for Chairman Carr response to the things Hegseth said in the tweet to find out how crazy it is going to be.
The grossly unqualified alcoholic running the department of defense will just continue to shout "warrior!" in every sentence about whatever bugaboo he has going. Carr is the mafioso nerd who chimes in when he feels like stirring the pot.

However...if published reports by Reuters and others are accurate about the "substance" (and that term is used very loosely) of tomorrow night's scheduled toddler rant are accurate, Petey and Brendan will take a backseat to a whole other level of craziness.

Given that the networks refused Obama and Biden time for political speeches, they should follow precedent and go on airing reruns of Dancing with the SemiStars or whatever other summer dreck they have.

Brendan Carr is a clown. Especially how he constantly goes apeshit over, of all shows, "The View." Granted, The View is a terrible show, but ABC shouldn't be strong-armed by the FCC over it.

If the Democrats take over Congress in November, I'd like to see Carr subpoenaed over this. And more importantly, why he doesn't apply pressure upon IHeart, Cumulus, Salem, etc. for all the right-wing agitprop they pollute the radio dials with. Carr doesn't get challenged, but I want to see that whiny runt sweat in a Democrat-led hearing.

Perfect. No notes. 😉

But this is why changes under this administration removing the FCC as an independent agency, and making it a tool of the president, makes the entire Communications Act unconstitutional. Because the decisions being made are more about serving a political agenda than serving the public interest.

Does something being unlawful or unconstitutional ever stop this adminsitration? Nope.

True too but it’s wishful thinking for now until proven otherwise. Yes its all about the White House controlling the definition of “Speech” while violating the 1st amendment as seen in the Pete Hegseth and Chairman Carr announcements.

But it's why if any action is taken against ABC or CNN having to do with programming content, it will be challenged as unconstitutional.
and as long as their in power, we'll lose that argument
