President's Televised Address

Here we go again. The president has announced he will speak to the nation Thursday night.

Apparently he wants to address "election integrity." Maybe he lost again.

Networks aren't required to carry these. Many didn't carry Obama addresses in 2014

However the FCC is currently investigating ABC and NBC.

The real issue would be the pre-emptions. With it being summer, the nets are in reruns. So no major issues.

No World Cup. Only one baseball game. On ESPN, so no pre-emption.

It's going to get real fun if there's (as anticipated) an electoral blowout in November and the democrats start investigating the FCC.

And even if that gets stonewalled by "your favorite president" (as he enjoys calling himself ... another figment of his imagination not supported by the facts), the FCC Chair has to step down at the end of the administration where they were appointed, so Brendan Carrtoon is almost halfway through the time period where he has any importance or clout.

If you don't think ABC and NBC couldn't draw this out with appeals until the beginning of 2029, then you aren't as intelligent as I know you are.

Shhhh. He doesn't want the "offenses" he conjures up in his head to apply to him ... only to Democrats.
The only election he lost was the one when he was the president and the government was under his control. Seems like maybe if there was an issue it’s his gross (and I do mean gross) incompetence.

The very idea that he would try to declare senators illegitimate is a serious issue. We can all say “it doesn’t matter,” “he has no power” and the like all we want. We need to understand the guardrails are gone. This is more than his usual verbal vomit. This is laying the groundwork for a much worse version of January 6.

It's not so much about what ABC or NBC do as it is what Congress does. They have the power to make Brandon's [sic] life a living hell, if they really want to get muscular. One thing they could do immediately is to cut off the money spigot.

Good. Maybe Brandon will then be glad to be leaving in 29 months.

In a way that already happened. The FCC gets an appropriation, but it's paid back in fees and spectrum sales. That's why when Carr says stations get the use of spectrum for free, he's lying. The licensees pay his salary. But the president can fire him without cause.

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is funded entirely through regulatory fees collected from license holders and other entities, rather than through direct appropriations from Congress.

Like, on the day they certify the elections and try to seat the new House and/or Senate majority, he holds a "peaceful" rally and encourages people to "peacefully" march to the Capitol and "fight like hell" to stop the transfer of power?

Or perhaps he's going to use this pretense to simply declare a "national emergency" and try to suspend elections in the states where he's facing losses...

I don't know but I suspect that Thursday night's address may be in response to the Rachael Maddow video posted at the link above. Curiously, nobody else has run with this which raises a credibility question though Miss Maddow is not known for lying. I'm going to stop here as even sharing this may border on the political.
The "news" organization that posted it is Chinese and this video is AI of Maddow's voice.

Either. Both. Something else. Who knows what the likes of Miller, Blanche et al will push him to do. Nothing good is the one thing we know.
