man, I make a post and give you credit, and you delete it!

Kidding, just giving you a hard time!

Surprised they would kill The Spot.

I am currently in the Texas Hill Country and only had spotty reception of the announcement while driving, but they said the 95.7 call is changing back to KIKK. Checking the RI article it appears that change is being made to 610 as well. Does the KILT call go to 650?

This will probably kill the sports format on KFNC’s bad signal.

Nothing said about the SiriusXM deal unless I missed it. I am at the extreme fringe of the 610 signal right now.

Frog, is this your Christmas morning? It's finally happening after so many years of speculation!
Well, a little bit.🤣
Not surprised this is happening, only surprised that The Spot is taking the hit instead of Mega.

In the 6+ from June, The Spot was Audacy's highest ranked station.
The folks at Sunny 99.1 are dancing in the streets right now.
I wonder if this will cause a secondary change anywhere else.
KFNC in its current form is probably a dead station walking. There have been rumblings in the past of it flipping to a music format, door just open for that?

BTW one of the 610 hosts said he didn’t know what would happen to the 100.3 HD-2 simulcast, but that is likely going away.

Once again demonstrating the uselessness of 6+ numbers.

The same company blew up their all news simulcast in LA for a sports station. The signal went from a 4 share to a .2. That's POINT 2. They don't care about share.
Agreed.

I was in LA earlier this month. The Fan is not a very good station in it's current form. Feels flat and lifeless, no sense of place. LA is such a fractured sports market.

KNX is still good on 1070, but it should have stayed on 97.1. I don't understand the decision making over there.

That 0.2 was on a brand new brand in its first full month on the air. Sports as a format takes time to built, and Los Angeles will definitely be hurt by not having any local play-by-play rights that make an impact.

95.7 has the Texans right out of the gate.

But yet, Houston sports stations have always trailed behind other large markets in audience share. 790 has made it into the 2s when the Astros were in a pennant race. But, compared to other major markets including Dallas, where both The Ticket and The Fan are regularly in the 3s and 5s....

Houston is a good sports town, but maybe there is just less interest in sports/guy talk. Perhaps not unlike LA.

KKHH almost undoubtedly is a strong performer in A25 to 54.

KHMX must be the stronger biller, and for reasons that escape me, Audacy evidently doesn't want to toss ratings laggard KLOL to the curb. Perhaps 101.1 punches above its weight class from a cash flow standpoint?

I suspect Audacy will try to migrate some of Spot's listenership to 96.5. It would behoove 96.5 to broaden its music mix.

If Audacy fails in that quest, this will be a massive win for iHM (99.1).

I'm very glad 610's programming is finally moving to FM, but trashing 95.7's current format to accommodate the move is a surprise to me.

Not sure what the lineup on 790 is, but, when I click on the shows and blogs, I only see two local programs. Clicking the schedule shows "The Morning Drive" and "The Nightcap," though neither program shows any information. The Ticket and The Fan are all about Dallas area sports from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. I realize websites are often updated late, but the SportsTalk 790 site doesn't exactly inspire confidence or convey enthusiasm. Local content still matters for sports.

Not to mention too Audacy isn't thinking ratings is the be all, end all for their sports stations considering many stream their shows on YouTube.

The Audacy PR that came out yesterday about the SiriusXM deal did have 610 as one of the sports stations listed to be broadcasted there, so I assume this transition isn't gonna change anything about that.

I think the local shows have been thinned out over the last five years.

Radio One should send Sarah Frazier a fruit basket as a thank you gift for this one.
Might we see a few tweaks to The Eagle’s playlist?
Just a guess, but I suspect they'll address this when they move.
He was referring to 790, not 610. 610 already has the most local content of the Houston sportstalkers.

Anyone think iHeart might blow up 93.7 for their own sports simulcast of 790??

Deathpool guesses for ESPN 97.5?
