KILT To FM

My question was if KESS and KKHT are normally on separate antennas on the same tower, or are combined into the same antenna? The antenna coordinates for both have a tiny difference.

Back on topic again: Thought occurred to me…will 95.7 shut off the stereo signal when The Fan launches? IIRC sportstalker sibling 105.3 The Fan in DFW is in mono, but I might be misremembering that. Easy to overlook the stereo indicator on car FM radios these days.
Normally both are on the same primary antenna. Each transmitter room has a rf line to the combiner then feeds a switch to the primary or aux antenna. there is no way to have each station on seperate antennas at this site due to the combiner / antenna switch.

you can turn off stereo pilot on the FM side, that will help will receivers with low signal in distant areas. did you see the sportsradio 610 video announcing the news and the GM of the station comes in to talk about the FMs of the company and taking over The Spot for Sports, she said it is a Big Risk, shouldnt have said that

During the announcement it was said that was the inspiration for the logo. But it is also a clone of the KWFN San Diego logo.

They really missed an opportunity with the KIKK call letters to have a unique brand. Especially with Football season close to KIKKing off and being the official home of the Texans. Nevermind that the World Cup came and went.

I have a soft spot for unique and quirky regional branding and find these generic, corporate cookie cutter brands to be bland and lacking local identity. But that's just my own selfish observation. I would've loved to see something along the lines of "95.7 The Kick".

On the SportsRadio 610 morning show today they said the launch of 95.7 The Fan will be at 8am on August 13.

I’ll have to admit the football tie-in with “kick”/KIKK slipped past my brain at first, probably because of the call’s association with the longtime Country format. I thought the call choice was odd at first, but now it makes complete sense as the Texans dominate the programming.

Would Urban One consider splitting the Eagle simulcast to add another station to take the Spot's place? Seems a bit far fetched considering the Eagle's ratings, but with that said, who would have thought that the Spot would have been Audacy's pick for a flip?
Highly unlikely.
If there's one person who understands why that simulcast has succeeded when 2 separate stations has failed on 106.9 and 107.5, it's Doug Abernathy.
But both iHeart and Radio One should send Sarah Frazier a fruit basket as a thank you, as The Spot ate into both Sunny and The Eagle's cume.

The first “full book” numbers after the 95.7 flip will be quite interesting, as there will be an immediate redistribution of listeners. However we won’t get that September book until October 5. The August book (out September 8) will only contain a week of the new 95.7 The Fan.

Will we see Sunny consistently topping the tens or elevens?

The Spot has been the compromise between The Eagle and Sunny. It's not too soft (Sunny), but not too rough around the edges (Eagle).

It will be interesting to see where most listeners disperse to. Most of my terrestrial radio listening (which was about 40% of total listening) went to The Spot with The Eagle/KVST slipping in from time to time. I may just become completely digitally dependent. While I do enjoy sports talk, our local stations don't really touch college sports. So 95.7 would be a non-starter for me.

I think this is what a lot of people do. People have lots of choices. They're not restricted by a dial.

They likely already have a subscription to something. So that's where they go.
Same, I usually listen to Apple Music. Rarely I listen to KESS on the Radio.

That is an excellent observation. There is a lot of playlist overlap between The Spot and Sunny, but at least on The Spot you escaped the soccermom persona of Sunny, and you weren’t subjected to Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor Taylor and other Pop recurrents. The Spot also avoided the burnt to a crisp elements of The Eagle, though much of The Spot’s playlist is pretty well worn.
