CBS on Nexstar moving to Hearst and Forum in six markets

CBS is doing something ABC, NBC and Fox are too afraid to do. It’ll be a rough 2027 for Nexstar. At this point, there’s a real possibility this company won’t exist by the end of this decade. The CBS affiliates in the South make sense because it’s been a struggle since losing SEC football rights to ABC

Gee, and after they went to all that bribery difficulty getting the merger with Tegna approved, too.
Oh ... right. That's still on hold because some pesky court didn't go along with the deal made at the FCC.

CBS may have attempted to strike similar deals with Nexstar's competitors in other markets, but couldn't get the deal sealed (couldn't get the stations/parent companies to cough-up the cash).
Why don't Nexstar just dump all big four networks and replace them with "Duh See Double You?" We all know it's heading that way anyways.
What's next? NFL on The CW? The Olympics on The CW? World Cup? Golden Globes? Soon, all big four networks will be a thing in the past no thanks to Nexstar. All that will be over the air is The CW, Ion, diginets, and if we are (un)lucky, My Network TV.

That was the line of thought I was going with Nexstar proposing their takeover of Tegna.
I was thinking something similar like Nexstar would have to either end their affiliation with ABC or Fox in Sacramento and Hearst would have to get either ABC or Fox on KQCA 58 so the CW could go to either KXTV or KTXL Sacramento.
Note currently there's an antitrust investigation on Tegna and Nexstar to stop the merger in the current lawsuits on them.
This is why the Nexstar merger with Tegna was approved. To put Nexstar in a power position with the networks.
The problem for Nexstar is it's happening at a time when viewing for broadcast TV is in steep decline.
We'll find out if local news is enough of a draw to make up for lack of programming during the rest of the day.
Especially when Nexstar is cutting back or merging local news.

That's what I was thinking as well. I'd hate to see our great Texas Tegna (formerly Belo) stations like WFAA, KHOU, KENS, KVUE and their later Gannett acquisations like KBMT, KIII, KIDY, KYTX, etc. flipping to The CW on their .1 channels all because of Nexstar's crazed ego.
