‘Big Brother': CBS Sets First US Celebrity Edition for Winter

The American version of the one of the world’s most popular reality competition shows is finally joining its international cousins. On Thursday, CBS announced the first-ever celebrity edition of “Big Brother” in the United States. Set to air this winter, the special edition of the long-running show will see multiple episodes broadcast per week in a concentrated run. “Big Brother” host Julie Chen will also serve as host for the celebrity edition of “Big Brother”, which will include Head of Household and Power of Veto competitions, as well as live evictions.

Housemates to be featured in celebrity “Big Brother” have not been announced. The show will appear in addition to the upcoming 20th season set to air in summer, 2018.

As with previous recent seasons, a 24/7 live camera feed will be streamed on CBS All Access.

The first “Celebrity Big Brother” was created as a spinoff of the British “Big Brother,” debuting in 2001. Since then, several other nations have established their own versions of the concept, including Australia, Finland, and Indonesia.
