1 – 4 a.m.: Jim Bohannon-WGN

Conservative talker added to schedule.

Since when does Bohannon lean conservative? Granted, I haven't listened to his program in probably a decade.

WGN is definitely going after an older crowd, and personally, I think that's great.

"liberal?" - give his twitter feed a scroll sometime. I always thought of him as a centrist, and if he was ever liberal, he's certainly not now.
I agree. Although the definition of what "conservative" means today isn't the same as it was ten years ago.

"Bohannon is a liberal and has always been."
He is not. I don't know what Pres' he voted for in the 2000's but I'd be happy to bet you it was never a "liberal." I haven't listened to him hardly at all but what I have heard, surprised me some. He's a pretty good broadcaster by the way.
I wish Nick was back but that's radio.

Last I knew, Bohannon didn't do exclusively politics. I admit I haven't listened a lot to him, but I stayed overnight in one of his markets several years ago and his first guest was former NASCAR driver and commentator Darrell Waltrip.

Everything I’ve read about his political views and opinions is that he’s a Democrat. But honestly that doesn’t matter and you’re correct he’s a good broadcaster. I remember years ago Mutual Radio had Larry King on overnights Monday-Friday and Jim Bohannan on overnights on Saturday and Sunday.

If Jimbo's a liberal then Coast to Coast AM is a sober discussion of peer-reviewed science.

I agree. Well put. What Jimbo does well is he QUESTONS the views of his callers. He isn't a "me too" guy. He asks callers touting one view to expound on what they're saying. He asks how they came to their views. Along the way, listeners to the show gain some insight into some of those people who may have attacked the capitol. That's what sets him apart from the other talk shows.

I always thought Bohannon was a centrist....and a (darn) good broadcaster. Each of which make me a fan.

For a long time, WGN was one of two stations in the U.S. with a live overnight local talk show. The other was WBZ Boston.

Last year, WBZ ended its overnight talk programming and switched to pre-recorded all-news. WBZ only runs talk now from 8 to Midnight and is live all-news all day long. Also last year, WGN ended overnight live talk with repeats of daytime shows. And now it's running Jim Bohannon. Bohannon is live 9pm to Midnight CT, so he's delayed when heard on WGN.

Now, the only overnight local talk station in the U.S. is WABC NYC. It switched from Red Eye Radio to local talk late last year. But only five days a week. Infomercials run overnight on weekends.

I've seen that written here several times and its not true. WLW's overnight trucker show was local until a couple months ago. There are other local talk shows in overnight hours where the topic is sports rather than politics. It's still talk, and they take calls.

The big problem for overnight radio is the audience is too small for local advertising. The only advertising that makes sense is national. So that's why stations run national shows. It's also very hard to find quality people who want to work those hours.

What local shows are you speaking of that are live at night?
