1.4 is all

KAGM debuts with a 1.4 KOB has an 8.7

KOB clobbers KAGM by 7.3 points

Larry + Diane + The Bean + Tons of Billboards = a 1.4

I know I know talk takes awhile well KAGM a year from now might might have a 3 share

I have been waiting to see what AGM would do...And I can say this for a fact...AGM SUCKS BALLS!!! KABG takes a dump...And Wild...I mean KAGM gets a 1.4....HOLY SH#T!!! Whats next? Lobo loses to KABQ in the next book? Somebody please walk over to the radio ranch by the arroyo and put one in the head of this sad operation! It was only a few years ago when Mega and Wild and Lobo where at the top of their formats! Anyone have have any ideas why this happened? I have a an idea..."sniff-sniff boy"...Get the clue? Well much love to my boys in the Burque! Ricky Garcia got nothing but love for you pimps!

I don't know, but if they made the fatal mistake of selling numbers the few advertisers they have will be getting a lot of free ads.

Simple problem is, Boy wonder GM who has only been in the market since 2000 bought the Larry hype and those of us who have heard lar for many years knew Kob was not Larry it was much more.

oh oh oh oh have ya heard during middays they have the show "producer" do the news break she stumbles and sounds like she can't read. this poorly presented news is on the show hosted by two former TV new reporters. Hey AGM why not and here is a strech have those to alternate doing the news break why they could even pre-recorded it.

Better yet put Diane on with Larry and put some good syndicate show like boortz on opposite rush
Edited by o1600985 on 08/06/05 12:57 PM.

I don't think that's she's doing the news anymore. I heard the 10:20am and 10:40am editions of KAGM 20/20 news today and they featured---nothing! They had the news intro sounder play each time followed by a few seconds of a beeping sound followed by the news outro sounder.

Maybe it was just a slow news day in the 505.

I would bring up a point or 2 about these ratings.
1.KAGM has not been talk that long.(you all know that)
2.Consider they have changed their line up,expanding the morning show
blown out the mid morning show,Expanded the midafternoon show and moved
start time of that show, expanded the afternoon drive, and last, but not least,
added a show to evenings.
All of this while blowing out 2 or 3 program directors.
The only thing consistant about this station is the inconsistancy.
Now I've only been in radio for 35 years, and I am not sure I'm right,
but could all of the above have a negative effect on the ratings?
Just a thought.

Boortz doesn't work outside of the Bible belt... they had Beck on, and apparently Manning's excuse is that they're all local. They start-up "all local" operations are having a bad track record lately, seeing the demise of KNRC/Denver and KFNX/Phoenix. People want the best talk, and as you indicate, syndication might be the route to go for some dayparts. Although Jim Villanucci sounds a bit canned, so get a good PMD show.

Glenn Beck (posters on other boards know I'm a big fan and perhaps a bit biased) seemed like a good choice for middays. Somehow, KKNS had him on when they were alternating for #2 talk station with 1050 a year ago, but now they've tried to compete with KNML and have wound up with no measurable audience.

I'm not so sure this FM talk thing is ready to take off yet. Success in a limited number of markets, and with less than 3% satellite penetration, FM is still fine for music. It's pie-in-the-sky, but perhaps if they want to do talk they should have someone pick up 1050 and clean up the mess they call a lineup over there.

I love the promo where Chris Jackson sez We are not using this town as a stepping stone to a bigger city! Excuse me didn't Chris use his KOB numbers to get a gig in Dallas? When That failed he came back here! Sounds like that promo lacks credibility! I noticed they droped the compelling talk radio line as well.

What KAGM does not get is KOB has the peoples trust, you want news, weather, traffic, lobos you go to KOB, you want bad rip and read news, poor traffic and bathroom humour you want KAGM. Oh and I am sure that Aggis Football will be a big winner against Lobo football NOT! A well programed station would be running good talk for the talk people who do not want football. Thats radio 101

The question for AGM is how much will they let the other stations suffer. The latest Ratings were Horrible for Big Oldies (5.0 to 3.4)lowest numbers in years and Radio Lobo is being caught as well, look for Mega to pass them by soon.

The view from the Bank Building here in Downtown is Great. What is the view like on the pot holed street of Carsile?

Here we go again with that 12 plus business. What about the demos:

Men 18 plus
Men 18-34
Men 18-49
Men 25-49
Men 25-54
Men 35-64
Men 35 plus

They also look at women and adults in those same categories. I'm sure their main focus is on 25-49, 25-54, and 35-64. They also look at 18-49 to see how much of the younger audience is there. Even more important, is the breakdowns per dayparts. What about the targeted demo? Example: Number 1 in men 25-54 6Am-10AM. Who is #1 18-34, 18-49? The list goes on.

By the way there are break-outs for 12-18 and 12-24, as well.

12 plus is not that important! The advertisers and ad agencies make their buys on the targeted demos, not the overall Monday thru Sunday 6AM-Midinight, 12 Plus! The breakdowns cannot be posted. To do so, would result in legal ramifications.

Do you really think a station with such a low 12+ number would be doing good in any demo? You seem to think the 12+ and the various demos are seperate universes that have no connection to each other when in reality the different demos make up the 12+. Don't get me wrong, of course nobody buys or sells 12+, but if you think any station in the mid 1s 12+ has something to brag about anywhere you are living in a fantasyland.

> Do you really think a station with such a low 12+ number

I never said that. I only stated the lack of importance of 12 plus.

>You seem to think the 12+ and the various demos are seperate universes that >have no connection to each other when in reality the different demos

I seem to think? You can't possibly know what I am thinking.I never said that they are not related. Again, I only stated the importance of the ratings.

>Don't get me wrong, of course nobody buys or sells 12+........

THAT is exactly my point and you agree with it.

>but if you think any station in the mid 1s 12+

I never said that either. Im going to pass on the disrespectful fantasyland remark. I didn't just get in this business. I've been on the air for over 33 years. I know what I'm talking about.

Absolutely! Obviously you've never looked at breakdowns....thus the nickname "part timer and overnight jock board" that this site has

You seem to think the 12+

What about your fantasy land....

I work in market #3. We have two new am talkers in the past year or so....

The Salem brand conservative on a HUGE signal....covers everything in the market

We also have an "air america" progressive.....on a daytime on AM that only covers the Northern part of the market....

The Salem brand uses tons of billboards
I have yet to see one for the progressive

The Salem station has been on at least two books longer....

take a look at the Chicago ratings at allaccess.....they are both garning about the same....and its no where near that 1.4...and they are both tickled pink about their market shares

For a new talk station...a 1.4 is AMAZING!
Edited by mattcarter on 09/05/05 01:32 AM.
