> Better yet put Diane on with Larry and put some good
> syndicate show like boortz on opposite rush
Boortz doesn't work outside of the Bible belt... they had Beck on, and apparently Manning's excuse is that they're all local. They start-up "all local" operations are having a bad track record lately, seeing the demise of KNRC/Denver and KFNX/Phoenix. People want the best talk, and as you indicate, syndication might be the route to go for some dayparts. Although Jim Villanucci sounds a bit canned, so get a good PMD show.
Glenn Beck (posters on other boards know I'm a big fan and perhaps a bit biased) seemed like a good choice for middays. Somehow, KKNS had him on when they were alternating for #2 talk station with 1050 a year ago, but now they've tried to compete with KNML and have wound up with no measurable audience.
I'm not so sure this FM talk thing is ready to take off yet. Success in a limited number of markets, and with less than 3% satellite penetration, FM is still fine for music. It's pie-in-the-sky, but perhaps if they want to do talk they should have someone pick up 1050 and clean up the mess they call a lineup over there.
