1-877- Cars 4 kids........

I all ready gave mine to KCET.
Now, what they can do with a 92 Plymouth Duster is any one's guess.

Literally, a POS that just so happened to have 4 tires...
and propensity to catch fire
and a sticky accellerator
and faulty brakes.

It's any wonder why I was never killed in that thing.
I haven't bought an American made car since.

Good, you can counter the fact that I haven't bought a crappy import since we ditched my wife's Integra. The ONLY car I ever got stuck in because it was such a crappy design.

Actually I never bought it, it came with my wife. I've only owned/bought American all my life ... and still only got stuck in that damn Honda (Acura).

Say what you want but the fact that it is being discussed means that it got our attention. Just another annoying jingle or catch phrase that sticks in the head, like ADEE DO! Or Hey Culligan Man.

They play the same ad here in NYC. It's so catchy, even the news anchors on WCBS-AM get excited before it's played.

some may not like them, but Sit and Sleep has some of the most memorable spots that ive heard. Oh, and the old Toyota of Orange.

I still know where Pete Ellis Dodge is even if it hasn't been in existence for close to 25 years.

Just follow the bouncing ball and sing along...
~/o Pete Ellis Dodge
Long Beach Freeway
Firestone exit
South Gaaaate ~/o

And for the real oldsters on this board, how about Molly Bee, on then as often as Larry Miller now, singing:

1-1-9-8-0 East Firestone
Stanley Chevrolet

I think I remember that she worked with Tennessee Ernie Ford, or was it Cliffie Stone doing a country show on KTLA (?) before he went national. She may have been on the radio, as well: KXLA/1110, Pasadena.

I see from Google that she passed away in February of this year.

Any updates or corrections?

Do they use the same singers on the ad nationwide? When the ad is heard in New York, the duo is a 6-8-year-old boy and a middle-aged man with a Russian accent.

Yeah, that's the one I usually hear, and I find it kind of creepy. There's also a "rocked out" version out there. I've heard Opie & Anthony make fun of this ad, so I guess it gets significant New York airplay, but most of the times I hear it it's on a Chicago station.

Oh, Lordy, we had Pete Ellis Dodge in the San Francisco Bay Area 25 years ago! I feel your pain...
Same techinque...I assume Pete still lead into the jingle with his tagline: "...and THAT'S the TRUTH!"

"Pete Ellis Dodge
10-95 West
El Ca-mi-no Ree-Al
Sunny-VALE!"

And, yes, the dreaded "1-800-Kars 4 Kids" commercials are on up in the Bay Area, also...

E-mail me and I'll send you that PE Dodge jingle I kyped from a SFO commercial segment on YouTube,
if you dare...

"McGruff here, and here's an address you might need if you want to take a bite out of crime..."

"Scruff McGruff/Chicago, Illinois/60652..."

"♫ SCRUFF ♫ MCGRUFF ♫ CHICAGO, ILLINOOOOOOOOIS ♫ 6---0---6-5-2! ♫ "

(We now return you to your regular radio message board topics. ;D )

They use the same ad here in Dallas. It is kind of creepy. Also, the phone number is similar to a local charity here that also accepts car donations.
