"Is She Really Going Out With Him" by Joe JACKson

I have heard it at least every other day, at different times, since last Friday. They play that song almost as much as 'XRT does.

Top artists so far: Journey and Richard Marx

Top modern artists: Kelly Clarkson and Matchbox Twenty

WOW! What a nightmare!

Oh, and have you noticed that when these JACK or NINE stations wanna show how much variety they have -- even RAP music -- they always play OutKast's "Hey Ya", how condescending to rap fans.

No, I can't say that I have had the time to notice.

Go outside. It's summertime. Have fun,..don't worry yourself with pointless excercises like that.

Let's not foget the focus on Pat Benatar, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, J. Geils Band and that big 25-44 male favorite Sheryl Crow.

I don't think that Jack is targeted only towards women the way ACs are. But the way you guys are describing Jack it sounds like a Hot AC that happens to play a ton of 80s music. That doesn't sound like a formula for long term success once the novelty wears off. Is the music on Jack anything similar to the old WNND when they were 80s? (we saw how well that worked). I would guess the music on Jack is a little harder and more "fun" than the old WNND?

I can't speak for the Chicago Jack since I don't live there, but my Jack (Jackson, MS) seems to lean somewhat towards rock and hot AC. It's heavy on the 70s and 80s, with a good number of 90s and 2000s hits. The music can be harder than the old WNND. Jack can go from George Benson's "Turn Your Love Around" to "Paradise City" by Guns N Roses just like that.

Here's a sample of 104.3 Jack FM from yes.net:

01:58 PM U2 Pride (In The Name Of Love)
