10/30/13 Sunrise - ANOTHER new log

Received another new log near sunrise this morning.

630 - CHED Edmonton, AB; traffic report mentioning "that's your CHED 630 traffic", and Edmonton news at 0535 PDT 10/30 (actually about 1 hour, 45 min before sunrise). Over the top of KCIS! NEW #503, 50kw, 534 miles. Surprised I haven't caught it until now, with the power - it's always been KCIS and KFXD.

How far from from KCIS are you? Great catch. I remember going to Edmonton to see relatives when I was about 12. CHED was THE top 40 station back then in Edmonton.

Roughly 20 miles now from KCIS. Used to be in deep night pattern and was never nullable in Bothell. Better in Monroe and Marysville.

Yessir, W7Pat . It was in the Sixties when I remember seeing a CHED record survey. They must have been some station.
Never heard CHED here in the NE, of course. The only Canadians heard back 'in the day' were both from Ontario.

Was wondering, Crain, which Provinces (if any) you need to complete Canada.

But hey -- as Wilt Chamberlain may have said, 'You never forget your five hundredth'. Happy hunting for that next 500 or so!

And hey again, Crain -- I'm creeping up on you, lol. #383 AM was just last night, on 1350 -- WGPL from Norfolk VA. They were gospel music, decidedly not contemporary. Wow, has that facility seen a lot of call letter changes and formats. Probably almost as many as Radio Belgrade has had.
It was WAVY, and WNIS, and something-135-X, and doubtless a few others.

Need Quebec, Yukon, Northwest Territories, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland. All are going to be SUPER tough to get! Especially NT and YT...

Well, hate to not post a new thread - but to save space...

My 3 foot box loop is back to my QTH! Bad news - no room in my bedroom to keep the big thing! Good news - Hearing KMIK 1580 Tempe AZ under KGAL tonight, at 50+dbu level mixing. Also XERF and KCVR plenty good this evening, and 1480 KRXR-ID 62DBU...
