10 AM on 96.9, and...

Regarding the studios at WTKK, what will come of all of the talk studio equipment? It must take up a lot more space than a studio for a music orientated station. Does anyone know if the studio for WSJZ survived all of this time and will it be the main studio for Hot 96.9?

From 1999-2007, WTKK operated out of the WSJZ studio, which was built for a music format and really didn't fit the needs of a talk format (call screening, producing, etc.). Conveniently, when Greater moved into the facility, the company built an extra studio pod next to the WSJZ studio, which I understand was used if any of the other studios needed to be taken off-air for maintenance. Its real use would have been for a sixth clustermate, had GM purchased a sixth station in the market (and of course, they did, but FCC regulations did not allow the company to keep it).

So, in 2007, the former-WSJZ pod and extra pod were combined into a very nice talk studio, arguably at the prime of the talk format. It is made up of essentially two studios: a control room with the scheduling/automation equipment, and an air studio for the hosts. Judging from the few pictures on the Hot 96.9 page, it is my understanding that the old air studio is being used for the main studio for Hot 96.9, and the control room is sitting empty.

she is live today probably because to build the new station and or because she started midweek. Not sure if this is a permanent thing.
