10 second commercials

I recall reading here about at least two, maybe 3 stations that sold lots of 10 second spots. I seem to recall one station pushed 10 versus 30 second and 60 second spots. It seems on small market would play a song, run three ten second spots and another song. Can anyone refresh my memories? Thank you.

I don't know about the :10's, but I recall either Cumulus or Iheart selling :02 and :05. I don't think they lasted long. Most of the :02's were for FOX Sunday night programming. You'd hear Homer Simpson "doh" or Quagmire's "giggity" followed by "Sunday night on FOX".

I don't know if it's still happening but WLW was running an ad that just said "Wyler dot com" for the Jeff Wyler Dealerships (there were longer ads as well0.

I recall reading here of a small town station (only station in town and likely AM), maybe in Ohio, back in the 1960s or 1970s, playing a MOR or Beautiful Music format. The station sold ten second commercials, cheap. There was the remark, it was song, 3 ten second spots and another song. It seems the 10 second dal was not only embraced but preferred by advertisers. Anyone recall his station?

I worked at one T-40 where they sold bunches of 10 second live spots to the old W. T. Grant store. There had to be at least 10 per hour and I knew I skipped more than a few!

Would a "time" announcement count on the category? (advertiser name) time is:.

I heard the exact opposite was on the early 1970's on one of the following:WFLI Chattanooga, WKDA FM Nashville or KAAY*:

"It 11pm, parents do you know where you're head is?"

* Almost 5 decades and I lost my notes but those were the stations I use to listen to that would be suspect.

Anyone who ever worked in radio in Ohio remembers the Sohio Temperature Forecast. When the forecast low was a certain temperature, the contract kicke in and a lot of spots would be written on your log. You go, or Sohio pays your tow.

Clear Channel did that in Orlando about 15-20 years ago. 5-10 second spots - I remember the spots for Morgan & Morgan law firm - they had a bunch of them in rotation. Anything you might sue someone for - dog bite, truck accident, business dispute, slip and fall - followed by “Morgan & Morgan, For The People dot com”. Just like a billboard where the message is short but direct and easily retained.
