The two stations are still pushing gimmickry. The helicopter is a nice tool and and WJAR has a solid weather presentation with or without the dreded "Viper." Overdoing the spots just makes things look amatuerish.
 
Now WPRI has a "Weathermobile" aka Chevy Suburban (sponsored by a local car dealer, of course). Now Tony Petrarca can take that to school when he visits the kids. Plus its cheaper than fueling the chopper. Their website has pictures of it.
