Anybody know why a 100,00 watt AC station in Lexington, would be wasting there time harassing a 2,500 watt
AC station in Frankfort....Weird huh?

94.5 qualifies on both counts.

Frankfort is part of the Lexington DMA. Define harassing?

Christine wants Franky to be a rated market. Im sure she has a lot of up-hill climbing to do, but if she can pull it off, they will throw Franklin/Anderson/Owen counties in her ballpark.

To get the ball rolling for the Capitol of the "Bluegrass", I'd commit to a two year run with a service like Eastlan and see how the numbers roll in variation.. Nice thing about Eastlan, you can create your market footprint.. They should market that more! It helps to see how you really do in zip codes where your signal is marketable.... They fill the need and tend to get the big ratings folks good looks at new markets to define...

Not quite. Format should be classified as "TRAIN WRECK". The actual wattage of 94.5 has been downgraded to 85,000 watts.

As for why they are spending any time worrying about Frankfort...see previous threads concerning INDYDUDE. ::)

They down graded the signal back in 2006 correct?

It was interfering with 94.5 in Dayton I think that is the reason why.

hey LexDude, a station cannot harass another station - it's not possible. Where's that aircheck of CD 106.3 I've been wanting to hear? Gosh KY stations are BEHIND in the streaming times or cannot make enough money to afford it. Maybe they should do more promotional work, after all isn't that what makes 'em a community station?

(LOL, I could do comedy work on these boards but no one would probably even care.) ;D

That was news to me...Indeed they did drop to 85KW in 2006. The filing shows that the almost insignificant drop from 100KW to 85KW (FCC allows a 100KW station to operate between 90KW and 105KW to allow for variations in the day to day conditions affecting the transmission system) would allow WDKF in the Dayton Market to operate with a "less restrictive directional antenna". Lucky for WDKF that their sister station just happened to be in a position to help out.

I'm not sure if this benefited WKDF or not as WNKU has a translator at 94.5 in the northern 'burbs of Cincy.

It is a waste of time - sounds like the operations manager is scared.

I talked to a former CC/Lexington staff member that is working in Frankfort yesterday, he told me the story behind this story.

Frankfort is using trademarked items that CC/Lexington has used for years. He said the GM in Lexington called requesting that they stop using the trademarked items, (this is standard operating procedure for CC legal ~ had this done to me a few times) CC gave Frankfort a week to stop using the trademarked items and find something new.. Frankfort continued to use the mark and now CC legal is involved. My buddy told me that the Frankfort GM just won't back down which IMHO is just asking to get your butt handed to you. I have learned over the years that CC legal doesn't put up a fight unless they are 200% sure they will win. Just a thought.. know we all "share" ideas, names, events, etc in this business but I find it sad when a radio station can't make an effort to at least put their own name and twist on something. Even worse when they get online and say that CC is harassing them for using a tradearked item. :)

Btw... what the heck have they done with 103.7? The Commodores into Justin Timberlake... dont think anyone has any concerns about this station!

my two.
