100.1 and 95.1 in Cedar Rapids

What signal is on 100.1 in Cedar Rapids? I read on tvradioworld.com that there is a license to broadcast something on that frequency, but I am hearing what sounds like dead air there.

Also, last night I was hearing what sounded like a local rebroadcast of 89.7 "The River" out of Council Bluffs, on 95.1, which I understand carries Family Radio most of the time. The River was audible when I was listening last night for several minutes, before fading away, at which point the Family radio signal faded back in. Was that a fluke?

I was getting 106.9 out of Rochester MN and I heard traces of the hispanic station 97.7 out of omaha.

It basically happens when atmospheric conditions are just right... I've pulled stations from KC in des moines before..

There's nothing on 100.1. It hasn't been on the air since at least last August, probably a lot longer (last August was the first time I had a chance to check.)

As for hearing KIWR on the 95.1 translator...95.1 probably relays Family Radio's translator on 89.7 licensed to Amana, and the reception could have been overridden by KIWR because of tropospheric conditions. (The "Amana" translator is actually located near Williamsburg.)

Honestly, I don't think that translator was ever on the air. Power Dupree is the licensee, and the primary was to have been KDST 99.3 Dyersville, I believe. They had one at 103.1 in Davenport that was supposed to relay WRMJ 12.3 Aledo, IL. Another proerty of theirs is a translator on 105.5 in Des Moines. This one did operate in the late 80's as a translator for KNWS-FM 101.9 Waterloo. I seem to remember that one started out on 101.7 (no relation to the KUNI translator).

I guess it's possible the owners could be turning these on perriodically to keep the licenses active, but more likely, the FCC hasn't gotten around to deleting them.
