100.1 back on the air

The former Sunny 100 has returned with music to break our immigration laws by.

I wish misery and failure to Greg Davis and his company.

Geez, all of my radios have a means of tuning to another station, in case I don't like the one that's on them. Or asa the late night jock used to say in Another Market when he got a dissing phone call, "You got a knob on your radio? TWIST IT!!!!!"

Ok, were supposed to get over it? Why? Why does anyone just need to get over it?
This is begining to be sickening. We keep losing Radio Stations only to hear more spanish programming. NO we are not just gonna get over it. I know all of the arguements over billing, numbers, and such. Its a damn shame that we cannot keep a local ENGLISH radio station because some moron wants to put more jingle in his pocket, damn the folks who actually like what's on the station to begin with.
The absolute truth is this: If you like local radio then support it. Don't just let some filthy rich idiot come in and cater to a format, culture that were already heavy in to begin with. I know that the comments will pour in from David Eduardo that Im being racist and unfair, but damn man , please know why some gripe over this. Wait another station with no billing, and whats more low low numbers on the ratings scales, then by all means swap the programming to spanish, that will solve EVERYTHING.

Some people here need to understand the economics of the radio business. Davis and Clear Channel exist to make money. Whether you like it or not, blacks, Hispanics, and country music fans make loyal listeners to their respective radio stations.

Why do so many people on this board complain about 99X, Dave FM, Project 96.1, and decide to stop listening to these stations yet you also get mad when the station flips to a Spanish format??? When you stop listening and abandon the stations that we have, that's more reason for the owners to flip the format.

This thread is not about 99X, Dave FM, or Project 961; it's about the former Sunny 100. I don't recall any complaints on this board about it.

Honestly, it has nothing to do with who is listening. Davis thinks that advertisers will spend more to reach illegal immigrants than old geezers. It's his specialty... with few exceptions, he targets only hispanics and African-Americans. It all boils down to stereotypes based on market research. Now, I'm only 25 and I listen to oldies, but Davis doesn't care about who might be listening.

No doubt about it. Your 25, Im 42, it does not matter. If Davis thinks he can make a buck then damned the others who are listening to the station.. We cannot have any oldies stations on the air.. Its a sin.

Good grief, enough with the freakin' pity party.

Bottom line -- there aren't as many dollars available to reach the few people who still listen to the format to make it more attractive than other alternatives.

That's it. No conspiracy, typically no political agendas, no men with dark sunglasses & black suits plotting to take away anything from poor ol' lilburncommunityradio.

It's business decisions made by people who managed to come up with enough money to buy the stations. When you find yourself in that same position, you'll be welcome to play The Supremes, The Beach Boys, or whatever else floats your boat. But until then, for the love of God, STOP THE WHINING.

And that's a sincere plea from somebody who fully endorses putting claymore mines at every border, building a wall on our border that would rival the Chinese, and airdropping every illegal we can catch back to their nation of origin without benefit of a parachute.

Those things matter.

Your difficulty in finding a relative handful of songs that weren't particularly worth a damn the first time around doesn't. And all the whining in the world isn't going to change that.

What happened to Sunny 100 is very very sad and I have never chimed in on this topic. We now have more than enough stations serving the Hispanic population.

Maybe less than attractive Arbitron numbers and sales will force something else. Who knows.
