100.1 pirate Lynn?

Some kind of Haitian pirate on 100.1 picked up in Vinnin Sq Swampscott..probably from Lynn.
Host and callers (callers w a bit of echo)

There's a Haitian pirate on 100.1 in Boston. Perhaps they are one in the same?

If it's in Boston that's a bit close to WBRS isn't it? I mean, if it's in Boston and has enough oomph
to make it up to Vinnin Sq... it should be enough to affect the Brandeis station in some way

There is definitely a 100.1 in Dorchester/Mattapan, we're just not sure if it's that making it all the way up to where you're hearing it.

Maybe they boosted the power--maybe I bumped into it once or twice before but now it's very strong.
I remember back in the 90s I was suddenly hearing a pirate on 102.1 IIRC (before the station
on the NH seacoast went on?). Turned out it was from the south shore, WHDL ("We had Hot Dogs
for Lunch", "We Hate Dumb Listeners"). They were giving out their phone number etc and if you
looked it up in the phone book you saw where the exchange was. Apparently they had limited power
before but then boosted it to 80 watts if not more. They got shut down. Pirates who get away
with it then decide to boost it.

It's completely cutting WBRS out anywhere east of the purple line in this coverage map, and interfering with it in many areas just east of the red line.

I used to be able to get the fringe of WBRS here in Somerville, but this pirate from somewhere in Boston has been completely wiping it out here for close to a year anyway. Heading toward Boston from the west suburbs, WBRS can no longer be heard east of Brighton or Watertown, where it used to come in (weakly) throughout Boston on a quality receiver.

I'd hope WBRS can complain and get action--this is right on their freq, not an adjacent. Going back to that map you'll see Lynn in the upper rt hand corner (I thought it may have come from Lynn).
I was getting it one town to the east, Swampscott and if it's far enough to go there it's definitely
more powerful than it may have been before. I'm pretty sure I hadn't noticed it before.

I did a quick search and found the following radio-info (our former name : ) )thread from last yr
http://boards.radio-info.com/smf/index.php?action=printpage;topic=199226.0

mgpt6 mentioned a "call to their CE may be in order" and Eli had replied:
"I told a WBRS DJ who I know about it, and he will report it to their management. As an unprotected, grandfathered "Class D" FM, I don't know how much clout WBRS will have in getting any FCC action against this pirate."

Guessing it was the same one. These posts were in Oct of 2011

That page, a list of low power/pirate stations, was last updated in 2008.
One entry:
>>100.1 Dorchester - Caribbean. Off the air, 2006, after FCC notification of unlicensed operation.

I don't know if it's the same people, but this 100.1 pirate was much lower power in 2006 than the current one. It did not block out WBRS in areas such as Cambridge, Somerville, and Boston proper back then. At that time, this pirate wasn't heard outside of the Boston inner city neighborhoods.

It's Lauro. Not Laura. Anyways, I was listenning to (Choice 102.9) yesterday. Radio Host (Junior Roddigan) was the afternoon host. He is on from 4:30pm-7pm, he was most recently on (Big City 101.3) He was also on there weekday afternoons around the same time.
Before that he was on (Radio One [Past Station] HOT 97.7) now Entercom's (WKAF 97.7)
When I listen to Junior, he re, (and I'm 37 by the way) he remind me so much of (Sunny Joe White) who used to be on KISS 108 wayy back in the day (1980s-1989) (Rest in peace Sunny)
Now, why doesn't stations such as Mix 104.1, or Magic 106.7, or KISS 108, Jamn 94.5 hire Junior?
Junior deserves to be getting paid in radio. He's such a good radio personality. I think he'd be great on (Either-Mix 104.1, Magic 106.7, or KISS 108)
