"100.3" no more Beat?

Been hearing less of the Beat name and most promos are just referencing the frequency.

Are they dumping a brand(and possibly the calls)? CC is watching I'll bet, if RO introduces a new brand, Clear Channel will likely slap the Beat name on 92.3, it still has some value.

Been hearing rumors of another name. There is likely some truth to it.

However, why would CC change KHHT - which is extremely successful to "The Beat."

Basically, why if you have almost a 3 share, would you pick up the name of a station in the mid 1's?

For CC there would be a HUGE benefit. It would eliminate the confusion that still exists between the two stations, some still call Hot the Beat even with the fact they stopped mentioning the frequency three years ago. Plus, they have a good chunk of KKBT staff ie Diana Steele and PJ Butta, so it would transistion quite well. Might even allow them to expand the station's reach better.

But forget about that, the REAL question we should be asking to Radio One....what is the benefit of a name and calls change? They're gonna spend a bunch of money to promote a new station and there is no guarentee they would succeed with a "new station", it will still have the same old problem which is the Presence of Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden and a lack of Hispanic appeal. Plus, billing is way down and they have CUT COSTS to the bone just to survive. RO should be thinking about a sale and using that money to pay down debt, mabye Univision wants 100.3 for Recurdo, can't see anyone else paying 300 million for that stick, now wouldn't that be funny, Joyner gets booted a 2nd time for Recurdo.

The big corporations don't always do things that make sense. Don't think too hard about it or you'll get a headache.

Aren't shares "off limits" here? Or has the policy changed?

You can't quote "exact" shares. You can give ranges...
