100.3 The Beat flipping?

Damn... That's what I just read on another site.

It's happened. All Halloween now, and it will flip to all Chirstmas in a few
days, which it will run through the holidays.

That was one of my favorite urbans.

Not really shocking...Ever since moving its signal right into the City last year, Radio One's Hot 104.1 WHHL has been creaming them. Clear Channel already dumped almost everyone who was local on that station awhile back and replaced them with out of town voicetrackers. I'm just shocked that they wouldn't flip the station to another Black Oriented format. 100.3 has been a Black oriented station with various formats for 30+ years, and the KATZ's AM sister was St. Louis'
primary Black oriented station in the 60s & 70s. Sad how Clear Channel killed yet another heritage radio station.

Well, good riddance. We can just turn to 104.1 and won't ever tell the difference. That's because they both played the same damn ten songs all day and night. The same goes for the two R&B stations. They both sound exactly the same, and play the same slow tempo ballads all day. Freddie Jackson, Anita Baker, Luther, Keisha Cole, Charlie Wilson, Musiq, Mary J and that's about it. St Louis Black radio is horrible.

They will more than likely flip it to "GEN X" like their sister station in Kentucky

Or in the case of WDTW/Detroit and WWVA/Atlanta, a Rhythmic AC. Clear Channel has been on a "KTU" kick lately and has fared better with the format than the "MOViN" clones, as we witnessed with the performance of WMVN.

Another possibility includes going Alternative as "Radio 100.3" or Classic 80s Rock as "The Brew" (St. Louis is the HQ of Anheuser-Busch).

but they put rhy. ac in det, when they have chr channel 95.5 and also urban ac mix 92.3, so it could happen

Wouldn't Rhythmic AC or Gen X canabalize KSLZ? Perhaps they are going after KSHE with Active Rock.

Given some of the domains that have been registered recently and the arrival of PPM, I have to think they're going to some form of rock. I suspect this change was purely PPM motivated. I also have to wonder if Randy Raley's departure from Westplex 100.7 about two weeks before The Beat got blown up was coincidence. I've heard some people say they think he's done with radio altogether, but he seems to come back into the fold each time, and this could be the perfect opening for him.

I saw this header on the main page and got my hopes up. I wish they'd flip 100.3 The Beat WPHI Philly!!! There are only 5 or 6 other like it there. Y100 or WDRE would be nice.

Radio One would never blow off there Urbans like that unless they're selling. Im sure they're now happy that they have the St.Louis Urban Hip-Hop scene to themselves. Now that Clear Channel no longer has an Urban Mianstream, I've notice the postioners of there sister stations. Z107.7 is "Hits and Hip-Hop" and Majic 104.9 is "Today's Jamz and the Best R&B." Have they always has the positioners? I believe the BEAT was "#1 for Hip-Hop and R&B."

KMJM has used "Today's Jamz and The Best Old School," but they might have modified it. I'm not so sure about KSLZ, but their playlist has always leaned Rhythmic for some time. Besides, their slogan is "The STL Hit Music Space." If Z107.7 is using "Hits and Hip-Hop," It wouldn't surprised me and their playlist seem to reflect that lately.
