100.3 - The New Buzz' Promos For "Rush Radio"

My favorite station is promoting (w/breakers & sweepers) - "Rush Radio, coming Jan. 2010"

Rush Limbaugh 24/7?

Rush songs 24/7?

I hope it doesn't mean they'll flip to a non-rock format.

Maybe it's nothing but Paula Abdul's "Rush, Rush" mixed in with ads from The Rush Fitness Center! :D

It's gotta be a cross-promo; I thought Rush Radio was going to 94.5?...

JESUS! It's like you guys don't even read the board

No need to enjoy the rock music while you can; it will continue indefinitely.

94.5 is flipping from Spanish to Rush Radio in January. 100.3 is running promos for their sister station (both are owned by Clear Channel) to attract attention to the change. This has only been the biggest topic on this board since WTQR fired Toby.

Please go back to finding Waldo.

I have to totally agree with Dhead on this onee!!!! :) We don't knwo the fate of the Buzzard. We might not know until Rush radio takes off. Personally, I think they will do a multi signal super station and squash every other talk station in town, along with half the top 5. 94.5, 105.7 and 100.3 all on the all news network, with slightly different programming on some dayparts and completely simulcast the rest. Cross promote like crazy, get huge cume and kill it when PPM comes to town. Keep seperate sales as long as you can and milk it. What's cheaper than that? Gotta get the duckets, govnah!

I'm pretty sure Clear Channel is just going to Premium Choice it up, and make Rush the only Premium Choice.
I heard that somewhere while I was out today.
They will saturate the market and cut their costs to the bone, except for their debt service.
At least that's what they said at that place I was at.

This is the first I've heard of it. Are they doing away with WXRA? I love listening to their classic rock mix.

What used to be WXRA is now WGBT; the call letters date back to 2003 when 94.5 flipped from classic country to rhythmic CHR as "94.5 The Beat." In 2006, they flipped to Spanish as "La Preciosa 94.5," but kept the WGBT calls (originally the calls stood for "Greensboro's BeaT" but, as noted on WGBT's Wikipedia page, they can also refer to the region "GreensBoro and the Triad"). With the latter meaning, the WGBT calls would be the Triad's answer to Raleigh sister station WRDU, who is also flipping to Rush Radio...

Thank you! Makes you wonder where some of our posters heads are!!!! I really was wondering if they were just pulling our leg, but it seemed to continue. Thanks for clearing it up!

LET'S REVIEW! Here's what's happening in just a couple of weeks at the Clear Channel "cluster" (that's a group of stations) located in Greensboro, NC (not very far from the Piedmont Triad International Airport, which is known by the symbol GSO to the FAA types)

99.5--Will stop playing Christmas music and go back to Adult Contemporary (some say Lite Rock) music
100.3--Will stay exactly as it is, playing the same rock and roll music that young adult males enjoy
104.1--Will continue to play country music
105.7--Will continue to play music aimed at 14-year-old girls (That Miley has a solid hit on her hands with "Party in the USA")

HERE'S WHERE IT GETS A LITTLE TRICKY, SO I NEED YOUR FULL CONCENTRATION!

94.5 (Which was WXRA in the early 90's and then it was classic country and then it was hippy hoppy/CHR or some might say CHUrban--remember that?) Will not have people SPEAKING SPANISH OR people SINGING IN SPANISH

The new FORMAT (that's a really fancy name that radio insiders use) will feature people speaking ENGLISH and they will tell you that America is coming to a bitter and cataclysmic END. There are only two things you can possibly do to avoid the utter collapse of the country you love so dearly (according to these hosts):

1) Vote Republican in the 2010 mid-term elections

and

2) Buy lots and lots of gold

The reason 100.3 is running announcements promoting the change (these are called promos in the business, btw) is that they want to attract attention to their "sister" station (94.5, remember?). They are NOT running these "promos" because they (100.3) are changing ANYTHING.

I hope this clears up some things
