100.3 translator finally on the air?

HD radio runs at 1%-4% of the licensed analog power. WUWF 88.1 runs 100kw analog and 4kw HD. I think WMXC runs 94kw analog and 1.5kw HD.
Zach studied all the HD power levels in Mobile-Pen but I think that information was lost with the thread on Radio-Talk.

And Zach, you want to have a "who's whiter?" contest. Trust me, I win.

They are still running a place card formats. Ducting from Hattiesburg continues to be a issue (especially on the causeway) They are a little over 300 feet on the current tower. That is probaby one of the tallest in Metro Mobile. The 1696 foot tower would of been the optimal location, but ducting is not going to allow it. So primary coverage will be the Mobile Metro which will reach the commuters during the day, and will get a decent signal in office buildings and towers.

I would think that if a sold signal cannot be obtained with 250 watts on 100.3, that would make it more valuable for a simulcast of WNTM or a satellite sports network than as a home for a new music format.

Those new 100 watt LPFMs running at 100 feet are in for trouble.

Pride Radio would jump out as another anomaly. It's always possible the person spinning this format wheel doesn't know what the final format will be... Then nothing Means anything.

The format has changed so many times that I'm loosing hope of a new permanent format launch anytime soon.

If it doesn't happen by Labor Day...
I seem to recall many format flips on Labor Day from the glory days of the radio boards. Why Labor Day?

I haven't heard a station break at all today, but they are playing some of every format I can think of. Country, oldies, AC, pop, maybe even some AAA.

Hmm. Interesting. Maybe they're finally going to pick something and stick with it.

I turned it on earlier this afternoon and saw the display pop up "Fin - Jimmy Buffet" and assumed it was Real Fun Beach Radio again and turned it off before I had to hear one second of that horrible song.

I would have launched this translator to Mobile by stunting with the entire Jimmy Buffet catalog. For reals. Yeah, really.

Does 94kw analog and 1.5kw HD lower than normal. To me, their audio quality is significantly lower than the rest of the iHeart stations.

Normal would 1% or 940 watts in this case, so they are running slightly more power than standard. The audio processing is probably an afterthought since they don't think anyone is listening. That is the only reason I can think of why they're so 'low' while WKSJ has the treble cranked up to 11,000. It sounds crazy.

They don't think anyone is listening? Heck, look at us! We're listening. We're probably the only people listening to any iHeart HD-2 broadcast around Mobile! And the only one we're interested in is 99.9-HD2. Pump that baby up iHeart engineers.
Yeah, I'm calling you out cceng.

The audio quality on WMXC HD1 is lower than the rest of the iHeart stations or am I just hearing things?
