100.5 IBOC?

Does 100.5 have their HD radio on again?

Yep... So does 93.1 & 95.7 <-- I thought these were turned off some time ago.

Then there is COX's 103.1 & 106.9. They've always had their IBOC on.

Always thought the COX stations had really good HD stations but then again they don't have the HD2 channels. I was hoping to see Culumus launch HD stations here in Lexington but guess they never will.

Funny...I was hoping to see CC stations in Lexington drop their HD service, but guess they never will :)

Let us be thankful CC never I-Noized WLAP or I would NEVER hear WSM again! I listen to WSM all the time.

So can you hear 620-WTUV in Lexington? 610-WDTN?

Do you mean WTVN-610 from Columbus? Yes...WTVN quite strong during the day here, but have NEVER heard it at night in Lexington. WTUV-620 is audible, but not clear, in WLAP's null in SW Lexington during the day. I have also heard it at night here. WLAP and WTUV null against each other during the day. WLAP is normally quite weak in Frankfort during the day.

[/quote]Same here on WTVN at night just south of Indy. When they switch to night pattern, there is NOTHING left of them. If the night skip hasn't started building, the frequency is blank (although I haven't tested that with the 400' long wire yet). Their directional antenna has always worked with remarkable "null power".

620 has a null to protect Lexington during the day. I doubt it will be heard over there at night, either..

This is from years ago but when WTMT would go to night pattern you'd hear them for the remaining time of daylight if you tried. Once it was dark it was lost to skywave.

Oddly enough, at night the null for 620 is relaxed to the east.

It couldn't have been too many "years ago", because WTMT didn't have the ability to change patterns. They were a daytimer until 1988, when two towers were added to the property and John Smith filed the paperwork to add night time operation.

Those two towers didn't work. They were fed with RG-8 CB radio cable from Radio Shack. It didn't matter, because there was no way to switch to them. They just stayed in Day pattern all the time. And it stayed that way for years.

I think Pete Boyce was the guy that finally fixed it, but it wasn't that long ago.

I remember copying them on a car radio around 1990. It was in the southwest part of Lexington. 620 is normally 630 slop so it was a surprise to hear them around sunset.

No, I am guessing this is another one of those deals where Clear Channel will feed the HD2's of their choice to these translators while EMF gets some Clear Channel assistance somewhere (ie a HD2 to feed some of their comm-band translators etc.) Clear Channel and EMF are quite the buddies now days.
