100.5 Louie FM Format Switch?

does anyone have news on the format switch they have been announcing coming up tomorrow September 3 at 5PM?

Not News, just a guess, it could be one of three formats..... 1) Country, a good way to put the skrews into
Cox for affecting the billing on WAMZ, 2) A Mix type station with Valentine in the Morning, he's going on
WLIT Chicago and WMVX in Cleveland, why not add Louisville, My 100.5, Valentine is becomes a better play than what you had with Jackson in the Morning, 3) Classic Hits - Oldies, we've got the success of CBS FM in NYC and WOGL in Philly, try that in Louisville and see where else you could spread the format, like a Wildfire.... We'll know tomorrow at 5pm, film at 11. ;)

The guess here is WHAS will be simulcasting on FM. FM talk stations have impacted Old School AM's in many markets. With WAMZ now behind Cox's FM combo, Clear Channel is slipping. They have to protect their other major franchise. I doubt it helps much. 105.1 has programming that is exlusive to that station, so they will garner listeners, but maybe not at WHAS expense. The big question is whether people really care that they can now get Francene, Rush and Terry Meiners (Let's hear the Beesman skit again) on FM. This could just end up being a waste of an excellent signal.

Moving or simulcasting the WHAS format to 100.5 is the even odds favorite. The problem would be the devaluing of 840 AM if the audience migrates or is forced to move to FM. A 50kw AM in today's world isn't a big deal anymore especially if what gave it value is on FM.

I hope WHAS will not be on 100.5! Expand another station or develop a new one. 50,000 watts shouldnt need help, but then again, WHAS has really screwed themselves over the years with the staff changes.

Move the WKRD fm simulcast from 101.7 to 100.5 or move 93.1 back to 100,5 and move 101.7 to 93.1. either way CC needs to stream WKRD and WKJK 2 of the few they dont stream. heck they stream ESPN 1360 in cincy

Interesting to note, this morning WKRD FM 101.7 is off the air. WKRD FM 101.7 is still one of the
Aloha Trust stations that needs to be sold.

WDRB-TV 41 has just reported that 100.5 FM will switch to Louisville's "Gen X Radio 100.5" featuring music from 80's and 90's of all styles.

No jocks I'm told...(and just read - thanks for the link RW) you'd think an era or lifestyle-based format would need some, but that would make too much sense. Hence my comment on the aforementioned (and linked) article from villevoice.com

Phooey on CC!!!! PHOOEY I SAY!!!

I agree with your comment on the Ville Voice. It's amazing how radio has changed over the last 20 years. In the old days, Bowling Green and Frankfort jocks were dreaming of the day when they would get a job in the "big city". Now Bowling Green and Frankfort have the only decent sounding stations in the state.

Sounds like something kinda cool we shall see and the first song is two unlimited ready for this i like this song already better then what they had!!!
