Recently checked out their website www.1007mixfm.com and at the top of the page it shows a new frequency and slogan (The Valley's Favorite, 94.3). Is this just a mistake or is it an accidental leak on an upcoming change?

That would be an odd change. 94.3 is in lcsenced to Greencastle, about 40 miles east of there. And its a pretty weak signal.

Actually, if you go to the link on the bottom of their webpage (the one that reads "Powered by MCI.FM"), it takes you to the Midwest Communications website. Click on WROE 94.3 and you have a header saying The Valley's Favorite, 94.3 as well.

My guess is that when they redesigned Mix-FM's website, they used WROE's webpage as a template for Mix-FM.

Although, I have to say this is some pretty wishful thinking for the WREB in Greencastle, though. From what I've heard in the past concerning WREB, they are overdue for a format change and an overhaul with the stations engineering configuration. By the way, are they still broadcasting in mono?

WREB has been in stereo since "Jinzie" sold the station to Mark Lange. Early 90's?

They have a nice Harris 3.5 with solid state IPA. 8100A Optimod. Slogan is real country. Sat service with local morning show. Lots of local sports.

Being in mono was a recent problem with WREB. IIRC, something happened to their equipment about a year ago and they had to switch to a mono broadcast. When I checked in with them about a month or two ago, they were still broadcasting in mono. I was just wondering if they ever got the problem fixed and to see if everything is back to normal.

I was the OM last year at WREB...thank god I left. We were hit pretty hard by all those storms last year (if you remember, there was a two-week period where there were severe storms everyday). When I left in late August of last year, we were back in stereo...but no fix with the grounding issues. I think we blew a switcher at least once every two weeks. Our Colts satalite reciever line was cut, and when it was repaired it was still hanging about 3 feet from the ground from the building to the satalite.

I tried getting new equipment, explaining that we must sound good before we can sell good...but to no avail. Tried the self-programming angle, but they were not very interested. Small town radio with tied hands, so exactly how are you supposed to sell Real Country against WFMS, Hank and WTHI? SPORTS! Well, that is if you are on the air.

Working 70 hours a week for 20k doesnt sound like fun does it? Well, that's how it was at WREB. I am still working about 40-55 hours a week (depends on the time of the year) with high school students on their FM station...but it is much less stressful. It didn't take much to sound better than my previous station.

WREB can do good if it were to move to downtown Greencastle and become visable in Putnam County, keep sports to only Friday nights, self-program with at least a live morning drive (with inbound TH and IND traffic) and get over the identity crisis (The Rebel 94.3 or Real Country 94.3?). But try this with a 0$ operating budget.
