100.7 wlev

i live in piscataway nj and i used to always be able to listen to 100.7 wlev on my radio now it turned into a all spanish station does anyone know why that happend please let me know why wlev is not on the radio anymore and why i cant pick them in new jersey anymore

Yeah...WLEV is still on-air with the same "AC Format" out of Allentown. There has been an FCC Approval for a translator for an ethnic station that broadcasts on 89.3 to now cover the Middlesex/Edison/New Brunswick area on 100.7 ... I think its "Doom Radio" or something of the sort. As far as I know it was all done legally but unfortunately technology from a "true listening" standpoint has caused nothing but problems between IBOC and cramming too many stations in to such a small space. AM has it's troubles with over-crowding as does FM, especially in this densely-populated area of the Northeast. So pulling-in out of market stations is next-to impossible these days!

Just as an aside I used to thoroughly enjoy 'LEV ... and not to be a tool, but is there anything on there that sets them aside from say a "Magic" or a 106.7?? Just curious...

W264BT 100.7 fm is the translator for WDDM FM 89.3, Hazlet. The transmitter's on or near hwy 27 by the Pines. 100.7 went live in early August and Dhoom FM is their moniker. It's Hindi music, not spanish...

They're serving their targeted audience in the Edison, Metuchen and Iselin/Metropark area.

I really wish that this Mr. Suri guy sells the station, gets rid of this bleeding, overly modulated crap music and sells to someone who'd make this local again. I also wish that the religious nuts over at Domestic Church Media lose their mediation scheduled for this month. I also wish that they'd resurrect the WCNJ calls again (despite it's haunting history). Now, that'd be a miracle from God.. lol

The 91.9 translator has been off the air for years, and it's only 1 watt in Parlin. Pirate stations go further than that little translator. Dhoom at 100.7 isn't very strong. It mixes in with WLEV and WHUD just 2 miles from it, and is gone completely in North Brunswick.

W220AA was sold a few months back by Maria Liadus to Bridgelight (the same people behind WRDR 89.7 and 103.1 near Ft. Lee). W220AA has an app to increase their height. I don't see it making a huge difference. However,it'll relay 89.7 for their Calvary Chapel folks in Old Bridge. 91.9's been off the air for so long now, it might as well be a lost cause.

100.7 has its' weak moments, but riddle me this... i've picked them up very strongly in woodbridge, old bridge and keyport when there was no tropo. i wonder if they're tweaking when they feel like it for the hell of it. after all, 89.3 did...

An 8 watt station from 217 feet on a crowded frequency shouldn't go too far. It overloads my radio for a half mile around the tower. WWPH at 10 watts stops overloading my radio just a quarter mile away. Some days, it seems like Dhoom 100.7 is stronger than it usually is.

it seems as if the people working behind dhoom fm 89.3 (and now 100.7) have been tweaking their power. yes it's illegal, yes it's obvious, no, they haven't learned their lesson. when domestic church kicked in, i did notice the signal to be far weaker.. what an 8 watt station should be. well, i just find it funny that when it comes to their own people/audience, rules are broken.

In fact, I wonder what happens next after the 8/2 application/action from the FCC.

here's the link to the PDF from the FCC's website

Have you ever posted one shred of actual evidence that they are running more power than they should be?

i have not posted any shreds 'credible' or 'factual' evidence to support that... however, throughout the years here on radio-info, there have been many, many posts about WCNJ/WDDM and the people that knew what they were doing, the speculation, the observation.. Hell, I've posted enough about it..... There was no absolute reason why I was picking up 89.3 in lower Manhattan back in 2004 consistently... An 8 or watt station? Yea, sure.. Everyone knows what the hell was going on w/ 89.3 and how those morons would go to the transmitter site and work their little magic. Maybe we can get some people that brought this up before to chime in.

Tell ya what.. since you're questioning my knowledge and my allegations, feel free to share your shreds of 'actual' evidence. :)

have a splended day!

Since I'm not making any assertions one way or the other, I have nothing to substantiate.
