Boy, somebody sure is making a fortune off this webpage. Whoever is charging 59.95 a year should really reconsider this overpriced website. There are no major advertisers on this site and very limited information. I realize this discussion has popped up before, but, in the interests of other websites, I am only willing to pay at least 10 dollars or less a month. I read the different sections of the site and truly do not believe that anybody should fall victim to the so called "high cost" of running a site that should be user friendly. They dont even encourage visitors to browse the site without paying 59.95 first. This website will probably close in a years time due to the lack of interests from the owners and greed from the company that owns it.I can easily find what I need to know through a FREE website called the FCC.gov. I dont care who owns it. And I am being very civil about my attitude towards that particular site. For 59.95, show me some videos or downloads or something!

That used to be such a good, useful site too. I don't know how many folks subscribe to it, but I'm not doing it. Perhaps if I win Powerball, then maybe, but I don't need it that badly as of now.

5 bucks a month is a great value for this site. No one has more accurate format listings and station links. FCC.gov offers great facility information including coverage maps but our taxes help pay for that along with fcc fees. They are paying a staff and bandwith with the 1.12 a week subscribers pay

It used to be free....that's about what it's worth, too.

I didn't think you would consider paying for a site that doesn't have the word NEKED in the url.

And the answer is...

That "whoever" is Clear Channel. They purchased 100000watts.com about two years ago. Strangely enough, you can get pretty much the same information at radiolocator.com, which used to be owned by MIT up in Boston way back when Algore invented the internet (hehehe). Really wanna know what's up with 100kw? Email Scott Fybush ([email protected]). I think he's still in the know.

Didn't you guys know, all things pricey these days are controlled by the evil empire? Meanwhile down at the airchexx dude ranch my site is still free (but you can donate a buck or two so I can buy me a beer LOL)<P ID="signature">______________

The format and website links on radiolocator.com are a horrible source for accurate information. The signal maps are pretty nice at radiolocator and the search for signals that reach a city.

If you're in the business, I could MAYBE see ponying up the money for it.

For those of us who AREN'T in the business, it's not a worthy expense. I
had this argument with Fybush here when it went subscription, and I think
he thought I meant it wasn't worth paying for by anyone. If you can get
the station management to pay for it, or you're looking to go to another
market, sure. Otherwise, radolocator.com does fine by me....

Re: And the answer is...

or you could just go to the FCC website and get all your info for free WITHOUT the annoying pop-ups!

they've got signal maps & plots and everything!

Really, the $59.95 price amounts to about $5/month. That's not a very big expense. It's also the most comprehensive US radio directory on the internet, and it's less than half the cost of your good print radio directories. It's also less than half your monthly cost of satellite radio.

However, I don't have a subscription (to 100000watts.com, that is). I also don't plan to subscribe in the near future. I've found there are enough other good places on the internet to satisfy my radio addiction. If they actually offerred a month-to-month subscription plan at $5/month, I could see myself subscribing. However I doubt they'll do that, and the $5/month for yearly subscribers really makes the $7.95 weekly subscription look like too big of a ripoff to me!

I prefer tvradioworld.com. They are free and about 99% accurate. And they take your e-mails seriously. If there needs to be a change they take care of it right away. I can get it on my cell phone when I travel as well through the WAP.
